NVC or Department of State?

Anyone know what this means.....'For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State.'

USCIS says ours has been posted to the Department of State for visa processing, not NVC, what does that mean?

NVC is part of Department of State. This agency will processing the approved petition and sent to the embassy after assigned a case number.

NVC is just the coordination arm of the State Department that collects approved petitions and routes them to the correct Consulate. Depending on the type of visa, NVC may also set you up for your interview appointment at that Consulate as well.

In your case, with the K-1, you set up your own interview using whatever system the Consulate in questions has in place. You should start reading that consulate's web site so when you are ready for your interview, you will already understand how their system works.

I got the same notice. It's so confusing when they write that they can send it to either the National Visa Center or the State Department. It makes it sound like there's two different agencies or paths an approved petition can go. Why do they write or???
