Hi all!! It seems crazy that I'm already back on here asking questions.. this year has flown by!!

Originally, I thought filing for removal of conditions from permanent resident status was 18 months after permanent resident status was granted. Now, as I read, it looks like it's actually a full two years (minus 90 days for filing). Is this right??

My husband's permanent resident card says it expires 04/29/2016. Does this mean we have nearly an entire year before we can file for ROC??

The first day you can send your application to remove conditions is 90 days before the GC expires. You will want to do it as soon as that window opens so that you can get it done in a timely manner. Right now we are left with expired green cards for quite some time waiting for the ROC process to be complete. He will receive a letter (his receipt notice) which will extend the green card for another year (from the date of the letter).

ETA: Be sure to start compiling evidence now so that when you reach this time next year you'll have much of your evidence ready to go. If there are things you can put into joint names now take care of it early.
