Hi,

I wish to clarify something regarding the documents needed for financial support. The check list includes among other documents, W-2, IRS documents, tax returns and the like. Are these the petitioner's documents or the applicant's documents. What if I don't have everything they ask for?

Thanks,

Dan

Petitioners of course, USCIS wants to make sure you can support these immigrants at 25% above the minimum poverty wage for the next ten years.

Can only speak from my experience as the petitioner, provided all the required information wasn't enough for them, also wanted a certified financial statement of all my assets.

Just saying was given that opportunity to provide more information before my petition was rejected.

Also if bring wealthy people here, do have the option of filing a I-864a.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. My issue is that I haven't lived in the U.S. for 12 years, so I don't have w-2's or IRS documents. I will be using a aily member as a sponsor. Does this mean I need to provide the sponsor's work and tax records?

Thanks

Usually they ask for 3 years of tax docs, not 12.

If you did not file taxes, you'll need to explain why.

Tax and work documents will be required from, both you as petitioner/ main sponsor and the co-sponsor.
