Hi There!!!! I just sent all the required documents to the Johannesburg Consulate to get an interview date (police clearance/s, passport copy, unabridged birth certificate, DS-2001)!!! How long does it take to get a reply, and how long a wait for an interview? Do you know? Congrats btw! So exciting now!

Hi,

Have you done your medical yet?

It took 3 days for us to get a response, and the interview was booked one month out. Interviews are done on Tuesday and Thursday.

Hi,

I have not done a medical yet... Do we arrange that or do they assist us in arranging an appointment? Sent all my docs early today so hoping for a reply tomorrow or Monday... Let us know how it goes and all yea?

When you get your appt date letter you will get information on the bottom on where you can book your medical. Basically two places.

Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Cape Town phone number 021 419 1888 If you know where the V&A Waterfront is it's by the Clock Tower.

The Johannesburg one is 011 783 7320 Sandton City Shopping Mall.

And I would plan to spend around R3,000 for the medical and the X-rays.

Awesome news DerekYolande82!!!

Guess we all gotta start saving up that moola. Sucks, because we need to save up to kick off in the states too - car, rent, more visa applications, wedding, etc etc.

Goodluck to all of you, and may you continue to Braai wherever you may go :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Thank You Confusedtinybird for the medical infomration. I will see if I can get that stuff done before I go to the interview.

Do you think it's possible to go almost a month before my interview date?

Well it's not a "if" U have to get the medical before U know. But I've heard of ppl getting the medical done a week before the interview. Yep and adjustment of status is a nasty amount .... Lol is it just U or do u have kids going along? Cause that's when the fees start to hit you where it hurts lol

Luckily it is just myself.

Yes I am planning to get the medical done here in Cape Town before flying up. Sent my documents through to the consulate yesterday, so hoping to get the letter later today or on Monday, so I can go ahead and make the medical appointment.

Did any of you receive your packet 3 from the johannesburg consulate? I did, but read online that it happens in rare cases? Most are received from the NVC? Or is the information online incorrect?

I received no receipt information from the NVC. Just a notification from USCIS on 21 November, and then I heard from Johannesburg Consulate.

My fiance's medicals weren't complete by the time he had his interview. We almost couldn't schedule a doctor's appointment because we didn't know about our interview until I contacted my senator's office (initially we had a lot of trouble receiving communication from the consulate). They had scheduled an appointment for us but neither of us were made aware of the date. Because the interview was basically in the next week and a half, we called the doctor's office, told them when the interview was, they said they usually want more time because they need time for the x-ray or something but they allowed him to go in within the next day or so. Then they messed up the x-rays and said they wouldn't be ready by the time of the interview but they said they would provide a letter explaining the mishap with the medicals and that my fiance could still go to the interview. The nurse practitioner said she'd never heard of them denying someone because of the medicals not being done. When he went to the interview, they said he was as good as approved.
