Things has been done about the gun violence, the effectiveness of those actions is somewhat in question. One group believes that there are still too many guns out there, and would do more stop the proliferation of guns. Another group believes there are not enough guns out there, and until every "law abiding" citizen is constantly packing heat, things will not get better. The largest group could care less, as long as nothing happens to them.

Truth. Things won't change here until the body count reaches the level of Chicago in a non minority city. But even then, it will be either get rid of the guns or arm every man, woman, and child. No middle ground will be reached since both sides refuse to move.

and I think he did it because he was mad at the IRS, not because he wanted to slaughter anyone who did not want the pope to be the ruler of the universe.

So killing in the name of nothing at all is better than killing in the name of something? Isn't it all just killing?

+100!

The issue is a simple technicality based on sheer hypocrisy. When terrorists attack and claim to be doing it in the name God, everyone takes it at face value because it's a convenient way to resolve the issue in one's small mind. However when someone like McVeigh or someone else professing a different religion does something equally despicable, since they didn't do it for religious reasons, it doesn't count; no matter the fact they profess one faith or another.

Not living up to one's religious teachings only counts when the subject is a Muslim. Everyone else gets a pass.

Us vs them. And it's going to get worse. These awful happenings in France will make folks even more hateful towards people who practice their faith properly. They're already attacking them in France and damaging Mosques.

Perhaps Muslims should have their own country, like Israel...oh, wait!

But, seriously, in the western world, where the tendency has been toward less display of religion in public places, and one law, justice for all, et cetera, is there really a place for those that want to adhere strictly to the Koran/Bible/Talmud in ancient fashion?

Like Christians and Jews, many Muslims, as I certain would include yourself, have somehow managed to live in Modern society and still call yourself a Muslim.

I suspect that the attacks to the mosques are unrelated to the attacks of last week. My bet is they are happening under to cover of the terrorist attacks. Many French are pathologically xenophobic and suspicious of what they deem 'foreign' religions. Non-catholics have always been on the crosshairs of nationalistic movements. Even during the occupation in WWII there was great sympathy for the Nazi cause in France. The reason there are now laws against antisemitic speech in France is not Zionism, so much as a means to curb the expression of these sentiments. The terrorist attacks provide excellent cover for this type of aggression.

If the climate persists, we'll see the increase in the infamous slogan 'France aux Francais' [France to the French].

Us vs them. And it's going to get worse. These awful happenings in France will make folks even more hateful towards people who practice their faith properly. They're already attacking them in France and damaging Mosques.

Nope. They just slaughter without saying God is great every day. You posted that 19,000+ people have been killed in terrorist attacks since 9/11. That's over 19000 people in a 14 year period and all over the world. How many people here are killed in the US due to gun violence or some other murder in just one year? What makes that more a threat than some people here who kill just because they can?

Do you know what a RICO statue is and why it is different than non-organized crime.

Of course one criminal robbing a liquor store and killing the clerk is the same as a world wide movement, that has one purpose and that is to convert or kill, and that slaughters 1000's yearly in the name of that goal and numbers in the many millions.

Same thing entirely. SMH

If it's a worldwide movement, why from 2002 to 2012, there wasn't a single terrorist attack on people here? And the 4 years there was an attack, how many folks were killed? About 10 people. Face it, more Christians kill each other than Muslims ever have here in this country, even with 9/11 in the numbers.

Over 6 million muslims here in the states. And how many terrorist attacks in the last 15 years? How many Christians murder each other every day in this country?

You are just in complete denial.

I suppose that the Nazi's gassing a million Jews is the same as a jewish shop owner getting killed by a robber

Europe is under attack. Radical Islam launched a pearl harbor style attack on the US

P.S. More Muslims are killed by Muslims and More blacks are killed by Blacks than all the White Christians combined

Wait, isn't this NB logic? 60 is less than 40? I'm not in denial. Just stating facts. http://reason.com/archives/2011/09/06/how-scared-of-terrorism-should

Taking these figures into account, a rough calculation suggests that in the last five years, your chances of being killed by a terrorist are about one in 20 million. Thiscompares annual risk of dying in a car accident of 1 in 19,000; drowning in a bathtub at 1 in 800,000; dying in a building fire at 1 in 99,000; or being struck by lightning at 1 in 5,500,000. In other words, in the last five years you were four times more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by a terrorist.

PS. More Americans are killed by Christian Americans than Muslims. Those black people figures you so love to bring up are still Christians. And please post a link that backs up your last statement.

You do know 83% of whites are killed by whites. Why did you leave that out?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Black_America

After the Civil War, Black Baptists desiring to practice Christianity away from racial discrimination, rapidly set up separate churches and separate state Baptist conventions. In 1866, black Baptists of the South and West combined to form the Consolidated American Baptist Convention. This Convention eventually collapsed but three national conventions formed in response. In 1895 the three conventions merged to create the National Baptist Convention. It is now the largest African-American religious organization in the United States.[26]

Since the late 19th century to the present, a large majority of Black Christians belong to Baptist churches. Although there are some elite churches, generally the Baptists appeal to poorer women.

Confusing advertising that when clarified will read:

"Provocative Muslims ask ignorant followers of the false prophet of their religion to alienate themselves from the American community by staging some sort of rally in Texas. "

It's a bit wordy, and won't fit on a poster or news headline, but it's truthful advertising.
