I keep reading that some VJ members have been asked for detailed wedding plans during the interview. My question is how would you correctly answer this question if:

1. You don't know if you're going to be approved for the visa at that time, so how can you give them a date

2. Besides a deposit, which isn't a problem, most places require an actual date to hold a venue

If anyone has any incite on this, please let me know.

Hello,

I haven't had my interview yet, so I don't know for sure.

I guess you can talk about the kind of wedding you want, about who will be invited, what kind of venue, and explain to them that you don't want to plan anything concrete until you have the visa in hand. That's what I would do.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see you posted this in the Vietnam forum :dancing: Maybe my answer will help, though.

I am not going to be interviewing at the same embassy as you, however I will explain that we intend to get married in a courthouse upon my arrival as we did not feel it was wise to plan a wedding when we were unsure how long the visa process would take. Then, once I am settled in the USA, we will plan a wedding in order to celebrate with our family and friends.

I have read about lots of people doing this on VJ and have had no problems. It's the honest answer and that's the best you can give.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the responses. I was thinking about doing the same thing as you Pheebs. We already have a venue picked out, but setting a date is impossible without knowing when she'll actually arrive.

They cannot honestly expect anyone to have absolutely concrete wedding plans when we do not know exactly when we will have our visa. Good luck!

My thoughts exactly. I'll see if the place will take a deposit, despite not having a set date and take some brochures and other information to the interview and go from there.
