Hi guys,

my interview is coming soon (beginning of February), and I am almost done with collecting documents.

As for the not-becoming-a-public-charge requirement, I was wondering if a statement from a financial institution (an online account of a well-known financial institution actually) showing the value of my stocks portfolio can be considered a good proof. I don't know if stocks value is too "volatile" to be considered valid. The statement is dated 31 Dec, 2014.

I also have bank statements showing current savings, but they are also dated back to Dec 31, 2014 (my online bank releases these documents once a year at the end of the year). Do I need to show something more recent?

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer! How old were your bank statements at the time of the interview?

What about stocks statement?

Your best bet is to ask the Embassy where you are having your interview. They are pretty good at replying to these kind of questions. The stock statement is a good indication of level of wealth, but should be in your name and usually not more than a month old. If the bank doesn't issue statements more frequently than annual, they can surely be asked for a one off confirmation letter. But as I said, your best option is to ask the embassy directly and take the reply email with you so there is no dispute. Don't rely on guesswork.

You're right, this is a good advice. I will do it for sure.

Thanks,
