Hi everyone,

I recently became a US citizen and also hold a UK passport. I have tried searching for any paperwork needed to notify the UK authorities of my new status and to ensure I can have dual citizenship. I can't find anything.

Is there anything I need to do in terms of paperwork on the UK side.

Thanks

Caroline

No, you don't need to do anything. You can have dual US/UK citizenship. The UK doesn't care whether you're a US citizen or not just like the US doesn't care whether you're a UK citizen.

No paperwork/emails/phone calls required. I naturalized on a Friday, walked into the NYC passport agency with the relevant documentation (naturalization certificate, driving licence, proof of imminent international travel and a credit card) on the following Monday at 10am, and had the passport in my hand by 3pm. Very simple.
