Hi,

My Wife (USC) and I, UK beneficiary just received our NOA1 confirmation from the London Embassy so we're just waiting now for the NOA2 packet to arrive, I wondered if anyone could advise on the below..

1. We don't think we'll be leaving the UK for good until August this year now... maybe even Sep at the latest. I understand the 6-month validity date for the visa is from the date of the medical. Is there any problem with me sitting on the NOA2 packet/all the forms I've gathered and not booking the medical until, say, the start of March? US Embassy London aren't going to turn around and say sorry fella you've had these forms for a month/6 weeks and done nothing with them, it's void are they??

2. Regarding Aff. Of Support form - We have the option of using the father in law as co-sponsor as USC Wife lives and works here at the moment and she has no income from the USA, however from what I've read this can be subject to more scrutiny (and, he's not super keen for me to be running around London with all his tax/income personal details etc etc).

We do have a US bank account registered in the Wife and my name in the USA holding a few K more than the poverty guideline (which I've read to be $19.6k and change). As we own this and it is listed in our name (and by the time of the interview (Let's say May 2015) will have a paper trail of ownership of those funds for the last 10 months) will we be ok to submit that proof of funds bank statements and Wifey's US tax submissions for the last 3 (If I remember right) years that it asks for?......... Or, if we have the funds to support me, that isn't deemed enough evidence and Wifey also needs either a job in the US or co-sponsor...?

Hope that makes sense, essentially 2 questions:

1. Is there a required turnaround date on booking medical/form submission

2. If we have over the poverty line amount of $ in our name and Wifey's tax records for the last X (required) years is that cool

Many thanks, just trying to clear these things up then I think we're good to go.... He says...

1. Sitting on them for a couple of months is no problem. However, just in case of delays, it may be better to do this part now, then delay the interview appointment.

2. I';d do both- use the dad, but also show your assets (which alone are not enough to sponsor, as you;d need 3 times as much as the poverty guidelines).

Dad can mail his I -864 and supporting documents directly to the IV Unit at the embassy when the time comes. He can include your name, birth date, case number inside. He could have an inner envelope marked "to be opened by immigrant visa officer only " .

You don't have enough cash to go it alone.
