Hello who ever is reading hopefully you can help me out here.......

I am from South Carolina and my wife is Canadian and I sent out my petition for her residency last month to the Chicago Lock box location as that's where I'm supposed to send it out based on the state I live in and they emailed me and told me that my "case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Vermont Service Center for processing" and within 7-10 days I will receive my official Receipt notice with my receipt number..... SOOOOO does this mean that they will not be requesting more info??? Is this where I wait for them to look through everything and send me an interview date?? Or is this simply them telling me that they have received it and will be looking at it to determine whether or not they will ask me for more info??? I'm just so thrown off cause of this Vermont thing and never read anything about Vermont in this process online anywhere so I'm wondering if anyone has had the same experience because I don't know whether we should be excited or not? Lol....

The petitions are always sent to a service center for adjudication. You have 4-8 months of waiting ahead of you for them to look at it, make a decision or ask for more info.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The Lock box is just the document intake facility. From there they will send to the the varies Service centers. Vermont, California, Texas or Nebraska. In a few weeks like they said you will get your I-797(we call it NOA1 on VJ) letter with your receipt #. Now you just sit and wait like NLR says its about a 4 to 8 month wait. could be less could be more.

After that you go to NVC where you do more processing that's where you turn on your financials AOS package and your IV package (might want to read up on the NVC process) click on the NVC process wiki in my signature below). while you wait.

After you are all done at NVC which now is a 3 to 5 month ordeal you get case complete then you wait for your interview to be schedule at Montreal. So you are looking at about a year from now hopefully having Visa in hand to move to US.

Case Complete to Interview spreadsheet

From now on your VJ Member name will be verified. If the name you put on form to be added to spreadsheet comes up not found, you will not be added to the spreadsheet. If you don't have a timeline you will not be added to the spreadsheet.

Please Please put your VJ member name only. Not nicknames or real names whatever your VJ name is. It's below your profile picture!!

contact your congressman or senator. You should do this after 6 months of no progress.

I just dont get how they can justify it all and not work on the cases that have been sitting there before taking new ones. is there no oversight there that says "hey we have cases that have been pending now for over our 5 month timeline"

Wow that's nuts!!! I'm hoping that it doesn't take long for us.. I mean I hope it will be easier just because she is Canadian and we are neighbors lol but I mean I have a friend in Canada who got her Dominican boyfriend living in Canada within 9 months of applying... Crazy how that works... I just really hope that they don't decide to sit on it and do nothing this is exhausting and very expensive travelling back and forth to each other... Oh the things we do for love... -_-
