She made less than 4000 dollars last year, and that was her first job ever.

Is she even required to file?

In the RFE it asks for the tax return or a letter explaining why she doesn't have to file a return.

Do a google search to find, for instance:

http://www.efile.com/tax/do-i-need-to-file-a-tax-return/

I believe that she's supposed to file for taxes on any income above $600. And even if there is no income, unless she is a dependent she should file a tax return after a certain age.

But IRS is confusing, definitely get some help

Congrats!! Did your online status change or did you just receive the letter? I filed on 1/29 but I dont expect an interview till September because it seems that my local office in Miami is incredibly slow..

Thanks! My online status went from biometrics to testing and interviews with interview date listed. We know some people see a "ready to schedule interview" but we didn't get this.

So glad to see this moving along! We are going through the AOS process the DIY way, so it's great to see it going smoothly so far. :)

I might be REALLY late with this - but she should ABSOLUTELY file, even if it's not technically required (which I don't know). With such low income, she will get everything back, plus some potential credits. So yes, file!
