Has Anyone Ever Received A Useful Update from Contacting USCIS?

I've called USCIS a number of times, but have yet to get a straight answer from them. They won't even confirm the length of "normal processing time", lest we actually know. We can't seem to get any idea of how many petitions are ahead of us or when to expect someone will review our petition.

So, please. Tell me if anyone else has had better luck and actually obtained useful information from USCIS. Thanks.

And how can you make an appointment without first having a service number or filing an inquiry first?

You may want to check the processing times online and see if your case is out of normal processing times. If you applied earlier than the date it is showing on the processing times link you will be able to file an inquiry. And also, you just need your USCIS tracking ID and some other basic info to make an infopass appointment.

I applied for I-90 in May. Six months had passed but I wasn't able to file an inquiry because they were still processing applications from April, 2014. Then it went straight to July 1, 2014 and I was able to file an inquiry. You can only file inquiry once the case is outside of normal processing times.

Bu their posted processing times are out of date and therefore, incorrect. We are outside of normal processing time, but their frigging website stats are nearly three months behind.

That's infuriating for me and I'm still a few months out. I can only imagine how you and the June/July people feel. It such a cop out of having to actually admit anything.

They won't help you. I tried many times and gave up. It took 6 months for me. I read that you can put service call 1 month after normal processing times, which I think are 6 months now as well. I also read service calls don't help and they just answer they need time to do security checks, etc. I think they are still processing June filiers. Good Luck

the first human that answers the phone cannot see much more than what you can see online once logged in to yer CRIS account.

you could ask to be transferred to an ISO, a Tier 2 Human, when speaking with that first human,

but it's not a trivial thing to get transferred over.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My fiance (who started this thread) has successfully managed to be transferred to Tier 2 officers when he's called. They are about as useful as Tier 1, except that they ask more questions.

Really? That's helpful. Did they give you any idea how long it will take to process your petition, or how many people are in front of you?

Since the change of the web page, they don't really show you their objective for processing petitions. They may show how long it's taking, but not how long it's SUPPOSED to take. For now, Normal Processing Time is whatever they make up on the spot.

I think you are losing your mind bro. Just relax a bit. Don't make things harder than they already are.

I'm not losing my mind. I'm ###### pissed off at USCIS. If someone else knows how to get valid information, I want to know how to do the same thing. That's why I started the thread. The first reply about an Infopass appointment gives me a bit more hope than I previously expected.

I've spoken to Tier 2 twice. As with the first tier, they're friendly folks. Useless, but friendly.
