Eric is a product of public education.

In the UK sense?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Quite a few of us are.

Any religion that expects to capture and keep humans must demand total submission of its followers by threatening to kill them if they step out of line. It's also required to kill others who don't like your god. This is especially true for the Arab moon god and misguided follower and author of the satanic verses. Best way to get a god is to shop around for what's hip and modify it to suit. After that you can invite others in and lock the door under threat of death if they try to leave.

You do realize you've described the bible, right?

So what you're saying is that the system doesn't always fail?

Sometimes. The public school system is a mess to be sure. Mom had been teaching in it for 40 years and complaining about it the whole time. But you still have kids that excel if they push themselves.

The utter misinterpretation and usurping of the Q'ran by terrorists is no different than the complete misinterpretation and usurping of the apocrypha by the christian fundamentalists.

The less aware speak of 'your' god and 'my' god as though the god or Islam and Christianity were two different entities. Perhaps, in their state of bliss they may believe it to be so.

You do realize you've described the bible, right?

Bible? That's the book compiled by a group of men who found a bunch of scrolls and stuff and threw some out and left some in, and the Jews got part of it, then Jesus may or may not have been born and then there were a few folks called Christians, and then some guys added a new part to the book that contradicted the old part that was already full of contradictions, and then some moon god loving dude came along and used part of those books, but he wanted to be the big boss. That bible, right?

That's what cracks me up.

If you want a religion devoid of what you previously wrote, do some research. I'm interested in seeing what the other religions are talking about.

Personally, I like a multifaceted god that can be anything you want it to be. Hinduism rocks!

Good point. But there's always that guy who abandoned his wife and child to sit and starve under a tree while thinking about whether one naval is better than another.
