My wife will be doing her medical next week, is their any hotels that are cheap nearby? She lives all the way at Bacoor, and i feel it would be best she spends the night at a hotel instead of tiring her out by commuting back and forth. Any suggestions, and rates?

This topic is asked about every other week. Try doing a search from the search box in the upper right hand corner. Use "cheap hotels near SLEC" should get the answer you were looking for.

We stayed at Soriente last week and we were completely satisfied with the room. It cost 1,800 pesos or $40 per night. The hotel is the closest one to SLEC, which is a 1 minute walk distance.

On the SLEC website there is an announcement that they will be closed 15-19 January for Pope Francis' visit.

I stayed at Hotel Soriente in November, Not a bad deal. I can usually find hotels like that for 800 peso per night in Cebu or Davao, but it was almost next door to SLEC and we walked to Embassy from there for our interview, about 5 minute walk.

Emita area is very dirty and loud and crowded and it also tends to be the red light district.

The empty building directly across the street from Ermita around 8 pm it becomes a some type of sex bar and the pok poks are there standing out front waiting for customers, it kinda loud from music and they tend to keep working until around midnight.

It was hard for me to sleep at night with all the loud music and I had just flown in and was experiencing jet lag..

Next week is suppose to have some kind of pope go be in Manila, Can you reschedule, I would suggest just having her take jeepney/bus to SLEC.

There is no need to get there super early like most do and I also suggest don't go on Monday Or Tuesday.

Get to Medical around 10 am and avoid all the long lines

To the OP...can I strongly suggest NOT going next week unless its unaviodable...they are expecting 5plus million people in the exact area of SLEC...most hotels are booked now or priced so high as to be robbery. SLEC and the embassy are closed the 15th and 16th and it will be chaos...Last Friday they had the fesitval of the Black Nazaree (spelling), several people were killed and several hundred were hurt...they are expecting 5 times as many people in the same area for the Popes visit. WE have a condo across the street from St Lukes and my wife wont even leave the condo during that timeframe....just food for thought....

Like the replier below states.... I too would not go near manila for all the rice in the Philippines. Just my two centavos.

Great recommendation. Don't visit if you don't have to. WAIT!

My wife stayed at Casa Bocobo and liked the small room i booked her. It is a bit of a noisy area, but find me someplace in metro Manila that ain't!

We are here in Manila now for her interview tomorrow the 14th. We're staying at the Rothman Hotel and it's a decent place. It might get more interesting later this week, though.
