Biometric Appointment Conundrum

Hi Guys!

So here's my situation, and I'd really like your advice/input.

I got my appointment letter for my biometrics today. The appointment is scheduled for the 21st, but unfortunately I can't make it on that day. As far as I can see I've got two options:

1. Reschedule the appointment

2. Try to walk in on an earlier day and hope for the best

The problem I have with option 1 is that I don't know how long I'll be left waiting for a new appointment, or if, when that appointment arrives, if I'll be able to get there for it. The problem I have with option number 2 is that the earliest I can get to the ASC is the day before my appointment is scheduled and if they say "no sorry, gotta come in on your scheduled day" then I won't have enough time to send off the letter to reschedule which could lead to the abandonment of my petition.

I'd really appreciate any opinions, advice etc. regarding the above.

Some of us are a day long or more drive away from these facilities.

How do so many of you try this 'walk in' procedure when they may not

accommodate you and you have spent many hours getting there?

And for those of us who do go on the scheduled time; the long trip means missing a complete day of work, etc.

Seems rather silly when every police station in every city of USA can take fingerprints.

Leo, I think the people who do early walk-in live close enough that it would not be an inconvenience to be turned away. For those who live a long distance from the closest ASC, it is better to attend on the appointed day or reschedule. I'm not convinced that going a few days early does much to expedite the final case approval anyway.

Every police station in every city is not connected to USCIS and the FBI to electronically submit prints and photos to the appropriate system. That's like saying "why can't I go in Walmart to pay my Macy's bill"?

People in AOS asked the original copy of the appointment because it is easier to scan. I will suggest to walk in with the original copy (and marriage license)!

But logic tells me that what you wrote is not true.

Police dept may not be connected to USCIS.

But Police dept is connected to FBI and USCIS is connected to FBI.

FBI center does ALL fingerprint analysis.

So any Police dept can submit fingerprints to FBI center which could then be available to ANY authorized user such as USCIS.

In the War on Terror, we talk continuously about how the various agencies in USA MUST work more closely together and cooperate.

This is just one instance that shows how much improvement is needed.

.....not connected to USCIS and the FBI ... I meant both would be needed to get the job done properly. But I understand your complaint if you are far away. What is you city that is a day's drive from an ASC?
