Hi! I'm a total newbie here, but have been searching the forums to someone in a similar situation and can't find any...I'm just wondering if one of you can help. I'm Scottish, but I'm in Canada on a working holiday visa. This expires in May 2015. We're trying to get our K-1 visa fast tracked as my US fiance is in the military. On the I-129f form, question 36 asks where I will be applying for a visa. Should I put Canada or the UK? Or is it necessary for you to put your country of citizenship? I'm so confused! Has anyone else had this dilemna?

Please let me know if this has been asked anywhere else.

Thanks!

Sounds like you will not be in Canada beyond May so will be interviewing in London.

Possibly...but if we get it fast tracked I will likely still be in Canada. I wasn't sure whether a non-Canadian citizen could still interview in Canada or whether I'd need to go home. Also, if it does take longer than May, is it possible to change the address from Montreal to London?

When is he due to be deployed?

So what is the basis of the expedite?

Ok, thank you for trying to help, but let's change the question, because I know about the fast track already and don't really need any help on that. BUT...friends of mine went from submitting the I-129F to getting the K-1 in 3 months without any sort of expedited process. I just really need to know whether I can put Canada for the embassy and change it if I leave Canada before it's approved. Does anyone know?

Yes you can out down Canada and then change it. Obviously changing anything can lead to delay.

I would personally be inclined to write Canada and then, if by the time it gets to NVC you're back in the UK, contact them to change it. Good luck!

Thanks! You too! It's proving to be a bit of a nightmare....especially as if we don't get it approved soon, and I want to help him relocate in May for a couple of weeks, it'll be difficult to prove that I have ties to the UK to the customs officer at the border seeing as I've lived in Canada for the past 2 years!

The reason why boiler was asking was because an expedite is rarely granted unless the military personnel is deploying. Be prepared to interview in London and that's where you should write.

Your particular situation does sound extra complicated :( but when I visited here on my VWP from the UK (after my NOA2) all they asked to see was my return ticket, no proof of ties to home required, so try not to worry about that too much :)

Thanks! That's reassuring :)
