Yes, they have religion based oppression in lots of places of the world. You take away people's choices and you are a tyrant. No society should ever be ruled by religious BS. Christian, Muslim, whatever. If I can't choose to not be religious, I'm oppressed. And before you start in on the US, I'm an atheist and my govt doesn't care.

Unfortunately that is how it is meant to be in the US. But we know rightly that you cannot move in US government without someone having to pray to the Christian god at the beginning of meetings. Or have a "Hissy Fit" if someone objects to the Christian Nativity on the grounds of a town hall. Or they deny other religions the right to display their religious trappings on government land. It is all a bit one sided (Christian) in US Government circles.

It ha been a slow and sure Christification of a secular country. Under God added to the Pledge of Allegiance in the fourth revision. In God we trust on the money, usurping the original motto. etc

American is fast becoming a theocracy.

That reminds me, I was watching Jeff Dunham All Over the Map the other day. It was funny when they banned Achmed in Malaysia. I loved the way he got around that though.

Then its not govt mandated sharia law. If a person wants to hold themselves to sharia law, they can knock themselves out. They have NO RIGHT anywhere in this world to force anyone else to obey. I don't care what the majority wants, I don't care what the ruling party says. Individual freedoms happen with the lowest common denominator. A human born in this world should be able to believe whatever they want and act accordingly as long as they do not infringe on anyone else's right to do so. Including drinking alcohol or smoking.

Sean Hannity said Islam literally means submission, or "surrender". So, by extrapolation, if you don't surrender, he suggests, it other words convert, then Muslims will get mad and do bad stuff to you. And Sean had a whole panel of folks that agreed with him, so that must be true.

(I usually change the channel when Hannity and O'Reilly come on, because they are not long legged blondes in a short dresses, but I was in the middle of something and didn't find the remote in time.)

You think it is moving away. Honestly the only thing stopping the US from having a state mandated religion (Christianity) is the first Amendment. Thank you founding fathers for understanding the right to believe or not in what you want without others imposing their beliefs on you through Government. Shrewd thinking. Obama doesn't want to make any more Muslims angry, so expect it to happen in your neighborhood soon. Philippines, Britain, France, the list is getting longer. Maybe it is a good thing, But the course has been set.

Personally I find my IQ falling when the wife starts to watch faux news. It is amazing as what passes as fair and balanced.
