Dear All,.

My I-130 was approved on the 20th November and sent to NVC.

I am still awaiting for my NVC case number. There has been no correspondence from NVC.

Tried calling them yesterday on 603-334-0700 but no luck getting through.

Usually how long does it take to get NVC case number ? Will I receive any letter ?

Will they reply if i send them an email to ask about my case number ?

Cheers.

All I can suggest is to keep calling. It is difficult to get through most of the time...I nearly wore out my redial button on them! You will eventually get through if you keep trying, and then they will keep you on hold anywhere from 10 minutes to over an hour, but DON'T GIVE UP! NVC is terribly backlogged, and they may have already assigned you a case number, but their notification times leave a lot to be desired. Keep trying, and good luck! :)

Calling is the best way to find out what is going on. NVC is open M-F, 7am-midnight. In winter they close randomly for snow daya and are never open on US federal holidays. If the number is busy or drops off quuckly, call back. Redial will be your friend. I suggest using google voice to call if you're in the USA or Canada because the call is free and you can sit at your computer to wait.

Call, call, call. Don't give up if you get a busy tone - put the number on speed dial and keep redialling until you get into the queue. Our case was approved by Nebraska on September 24th and we received zero unprompted correspondence from the NVC until December. We obtained our case number by calling and asking in late October. Emailing is pointless as it takes them over a month to respond.

Don't rely on them or wait for them to contact you before taking action - it will add weeks or even months onto your processing time if you're not proactive enough.

I asked that exact question last week. I called them 35 times (hit redial until my thumbs were numb) and finally got through. Waited about 45 min or so to speak to a person. They gave me both my Case number and my IIN number. :)

As everyone has said, call, call and call again. And then be prepared to be on hold for quite awhile. It really is hit or miss as to how many times you have to redial. After 11 attempts of calling NVC and then on hold for 49 minutes on December 5, 2014, I was told our case arrived from USCIS on 11/26/14 and to give NVC up to 42 days to get our case uploaded into the system which then generates the case # and IIN #s. I called again on 12/22/14 and this time I got through after 2 attempts and was on hold for 45 minutes which yielded no updates on our case. On 12/29/14, it took 29 attempts and on hold for 37 minutes and we received our case and IIN #s that were just issued that same day - 33 days from the arrival date to NVC. It seems it's taking a little less time than the 60 or even the 42 days that NVC was previously quoting (others were reporting a similar timeline to mine in this respect). For us, this is good news as we waited over 7 months for our NOA2 through Vermont SC to begin with. This was followed up by the email notification on 12/30/14. NVC did tell me that you must give them 60 days to respond to any email inquiries. We emailed them on 12/2914 to get our case transferred to a different embassy. I'll be curious to see how long it actually takes...

Good Luck to you
