Changing passports during I-130 process

I want to file the I-130 next week here in Thailand, but it will be with her passport with her maiden name. After the process starts and she gets a new passport with her new last name will this slowdown or mess up the visa process?

It won't effect.. but please carry all your old passports when interview.

I do not think it will affect the I-130 petition but you will need to send a copy of her bio page when you get to the nvc stage. then at her interview she will need to show it. I believe the visa will be issue in the name on her passport. I know my wife just got her first passport, she got it in our married name, it was after I had file the I-130 petition, that she got it

Several ways to do this. My husband had me change my name after we married at the Ampour then get my passport in my married name. This helped eliminate many instances where there would have been problems. Its also a good idea to work with a recent passport to avoid having it expire too soon even after she is in the USA.

Doing what you indicate is fine and wont slow down the process as long as you study where her recorded last name will affect the process and be proactive.

It will not affect the process. I for one did the same thing. My husband file the petition with my married name in the I-130 and sent copy of my passport with Maiden name. I change my passport during NVC stage.

Ill have my interview on 29th and I will be bringing my new passport along with the old one.
