Costa Rica mailing addresses.

OK so apparently mailing addresses don't exist in Costa Rica. Or at least that's what my fiance and his entire family keeps telling me. Um....ok. so, what in the world do you put for addresses for residential and work history? 200m norte 300m este del Pizza hut? Seriously?

Anyone have any experience with this? We're driving each other nuts over this today.

Address using street names:

Señor Carlos Torres

Calle 1 Ave 3 y 4 Casa 23 street + cross streets + number in street

1000 SAN JOSE postcode + locality

COSTA RICA country

Address using reference points:

Señor Carlos Torres

200 norte/25 este del Banco Nacional delivery point based on reference point

They have Pizza Hut in Ecuador, so it's probably around Central America, too.

Thanks--we'll give this a shot. That is, of course is if Mr. can accurately remember. He's 24 and to say that he's spent the past 5 years as a bit of a nomad would be a very serious understatement. This ought to be....fun :/

And yep....pretty much most US chains in the major cities. It's weird honestly, because the images of toucans, sloths and treehouses and ziplines through the rainforest---actually accurate. As is the sleepy fishing/surfer villages, and the sweeping valleys of coffee plantations. And then there's the cities. You'd never know you were in the same country, it's really weird.

Does your fiance have a PO box (apartado)? If so, you can use that to actually have mail delivered. Or just use the "300 mts from the mango tree" address. It's actually sort of irrelevant which address you use. You'll have all the important documents mailed to you. I used a combination of both types of "addresses" on all the forms. At the US embassy in CR they know that addresses don't exist!

No, but he's considering getting one. This isn't for getting mail to him---this is for filling out the G-325A which wants names and addresses of everywhere you've lived and worked for the past 5 years.

I am sure you have filled these out by now, but you are perfectly fine using 15 meters south of Mas x Menos and addresses such as that. We did the same for my then fiance and everything turned out just fine.

They just want to make sure that there are no gaps in anything and that what you submit this time matches what you submit next time. I kept copies of everything and it has come in very handy.
