Towering Inferno is on right now. I love these old disaster type movies. I know they scared me when I was a kid but they don't scare me quite so much these days. Well, maybe the clothing styles.

here's a question....do you have to already have good stomach muscles to do a belly dancing class? Also, what is a good dvd to start with?

no, but bd classes will strengthen your abdominal/core muscles - but it's really more than *belly* dance - it involves almost every muscle of your body. Most of the dvds I would recommend are higher end, b/c frankly alot of the readily available, mass marketed ones are fluff and contain little actual content.... and nothing replaces a real live teacher to correct you if you're doing something wrong - that being said, I highly recommend Delilah's Absolute Beginning Bellydance (www.visionarydance.com) and Mesmera's "Dance of the Serpent" (www.mesmera.com). I've taken classes w/ both of these women - actually went on safari w/ Mesmera in Kenya - and own both of these videos/dvds. Please stay away from Neena & Veena, Suhaila, & Rania, and don't go near anything by Neon - what a joke!

I really wish I could take the class that is offered around here but I haven't been able to take any classes since I had my two daughters.....who will soon be 10 and 11. I work fulltime so I leave them at 8am and come home at 5pm and they're with their dad every Wed and every other weekend so I just can't justify leaving them a second more than that. I don't even go out on the weekends that I have them 'cause we'd miss each other too much. That's why I can't go to Egypt for that long the next time since the ten or eleven days I was there in Dec/Jan just choked us.

So basically my exercise has been limited to walks at lunchtime at work and tapes or dvd's like walk away the pounds at home, but even then it's hard finding the time. I get home at 5, cook dinner and chit chat till 6, help with homework till 7, talk to my honey till 8, do dishes, laundry and make lunches till 9, then put them to bed bringing me to 9:30pm and lemme tell ya by that time my motivation has just flown out the window!!!! I have tried waking up an hour early in the morning but inevitably it wakes them up and then I get interrupted with breakfast requests not to mention their cranky from not having that extra hour of sleep.

I think by the time I'm able to go to a gym I'll be in my late 60's and then my arthritis will probably be so bad it will be a mute point. lol.

So that being said, I'll check out those dvd's. I can do them on Friday night and sat and sun.

Finally back from shopping all day and in the last place, not only did i find my dress, but a dress for my daughter and maid of honor. One less thing to be concerned about. Now it is cold and i am tired. See you all in the morning.
