Why does getting a NBI take so long

Yes now I found our she will have to go back a third day as she got a hit. They want her back next Thursday.

Well she finally got her NBI certificate after going to the NBI office three times, about 12 hours of bus rides and many hours of waiting.

What a horrible system in some of the slower NBI offices. Luckily some of the offices are apparently much faster.

I just hope Singapore and Hong Kong is more efficient.

By the way her certificate states no derogatory record. Is this good for NVC/Embassy?

Also I don't see her other names used either that she listed on the NBI application. Where would these be?

Apparently her nick name and Baptismal spelling wasn't listed even thou it was put on the NBI application form. I guess I will just take her in Manila when I go next month as I see they want nick names from a previous thread.

4. NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

Thanks for sharing that. My wife got her nbi a couple of days ago. I did not know about the offical letter stating that no record found is needed. Also does she need 2 nbi one for her married and another for her maiden names? Or just one with both names?

I believe both names can be put on one NBI from what I understand from reading the forum. Hopefully someone with NBI's experiences will chime in soon.

Then my wife is going to need one. but I just ask her about the names and her NBI list both of her name. One other thing maybe someone could answer. Is a copy of the letter required at the NVC with the NBI, or is it just require at the interview?

I can not convince my wife thru text message, that she needs a letter stating no record found. I am hoping this weekend when we chat on FB cam I can. People (family and friends) there are telling her she does not need a letter because all the information is on the NBI . Also she say she was ask if it was for visa. So she thinks that They would of given her a letter if she needed one.

We are going through the same thing!! 3 trips to NBI in Clark already, not ready, not ready, not ready. Terrible

I do not think you need the letter now. I was looking at an earlier topic on here about this and it says you only need the letter if it states no criminal record found.

You are clean or no explanation needed if you have NBI remarks: "No record on file" and "no derogatory record"

"No record on file" remark are for applicants who are considered 1st timer or just someone who forgot to bring their previous NBI clearance and goes thru the finger printing process again

"No derogatory record: remark are for someone who are just renewing their NBI clearance. Like, brought their old expired NBI clearance and did not pass thru finger printing for this application.

The reason i know these coz i tried both process,i initially applied as first timer and then goes back to the line, applied for the second time. Wasted Php 115 just to know the difference.

If you get NBI remark "no criminal record" then you need explanation for this. As mentioned earlier, you have a civil record that USEM wants to know.

either of thise printed on the NBI = "no criminal record" or "no pending case" requires a letter from NBI, pretty simple. Anything else printed on there the embassy doesn't care..
