I'd love the ability to kill pics in sigs. I use and post from slower systems and all the pics really make for a slow experience.

Can't you already do that by choosing not to view signatures? That's what I do and I don't have to see any of the extra #######.

I like sigs as in text for timelines. Pics I can do without. :)

But you can still see the timelines by clicking on the link on the left - I prefer that than seeing all those huge pictures!

Would it be possible to have the date the original thread was started on, showing in the topic index in each forum list or in active topics?

Just thought it would be handy for when people drag up topics from months n months ago and comment on them and you think it's a new topic til you open it and see the date in there.

Does this make sense? It's 2am and i'm really trying!

At the risk of being stoned for posting the most unpopular idea on the site...

Too many people have gotten hung up on "getting ahead" on their membership status and hopelessly bog down threads by posting again and again and OMG again... just to get a higher membership count.

I've been around here a long time and I am aware that the membership status was created so newbies would be able to tell if advice was, well, advisable, based on the time a member had been around and had been gaining knowledge. That is no longer applicable. New people who really don't have a handle on the ins and outs of the varied processes are showing up as "older" experienced members, just because they've rolled up a huge amount of postings on garbage threads.

It's time to change that. Everything changes, including this website. Love the changes or hate them, it matters not. New people who lack experience and knowledge should NOT show up as experienced members, offering false info to newbies.

Except that quite a lot of the time, people haven't linked their timeline or updated it, or that it's not nearly as handy as a quick glance at say, an entire threads worth of where everyone is in the process.

If it's easy just to turn off signature images or limit them to not the entire page of blinky sparkly stuff, that would be very nice. :)

Off Topic posts should not result in a posters post count being incremented. JMHO.

That seems wise. That said, people should be discouraged for thinking that having plenty of 'hearts' means that the person knows their ####### from a hole in the ground in any case, and rely on getting a sense of the board.

Have the members "joined" date in a larger font.

I agree, it gets kinda lost down near the bottom when you click on a person's profile. It would be hlpeful to have that right under all the boxes and hearts.

I'm a big fan of limiting pictures in signatures.

Fix some distinguising (mark) by the persons who have been on the longest and with the most experience to anser questions. This would seperate from those that just post alot but maybe not have the actual experience to answer the questons. Im fairly new and somedays do post alot but in no way know answers past the point of the application im working in. *maybe that makes sense*

No, it doesn't. Especially since there's no guarantee that someone posting here since 2004 will know more than someone posting 2006 (to take one: anyone adjusting in 2004 have to deal with IMBRA?), and the point of such a site as this is to encourage self-reliance, not waiting for Mommy and Daddy Moderator to give an answer.
