Visa Approved, But Passport Still Not Ready!

My fiance had his interview on December 10, 2014 in Honduras. He was approved for the K1 Visa, and online the system says the VISA has been issued. However, his passport is still not at Cargos Express where it is supposed to be picked up. The embassy says that it is still in process and could take much longer, but online it says to inquire if it is not ready within 5 days.

This is so frustrating because we bought a plane ticket for January 23, thinking that a month and a half would be plenty of time to get the VISA. However, now nobody from the embassy will give us any information they just say that it is being processed.

Has anyone ever experienced something similar? If so, how did you handle this?

Hope, pray, and bug the Embassy is about all you can really do. That is why it is always recommended to not purchase tickets or make travel plans until the visa is in our hands. Too many things can go wrong between the approval and receiving the passport. A month SHOULD be enough time, but prepare yourself for changing the departure date on the ticket.
