Thanks for your reply..

I was outside throwing snowballs at my ex-wife's picture and Delta called me back and said they had made a mistake and aplogized.

They gave me a new price for May, which is better for me,....$1058.00..so I went ahead and booked the flight.

Thanks again.

Thanks guys for your replies and taking the time to look at prices for me.

For April Delta was in the $900.00 price range when they called me back

But, I had just talked with my fiance and she told me the "little one" :-) was going to be in a end of the year school program in May so why not wait two more weeks and be there for her for that special day.

So, she has priority with us so I changed my travel dates.

I'm two hours from the Atlanta airport so Delta's non-stops have always worked best for me.

Thanks again guys for your help.

Sounds like a great time planned for May. I just saw that American, Delta and United have raised all of their domestic rates. I assume the international rates will be right behind. We are trying to plan a trip in May-June to Kyiv but can't book the flights yet. My wife is trying to arrange for her father and brother to come also. Both of them live in Russia, but a long way from Kyiv. This is going to cost me a bunch but my wife hasn't seen her dad in fifteen years and it will probably be the last time due to his age. I just have to do this. Unfortunately, she didn't have the chance to meet my parents, so this is worth it.

Hopefully it will be much warmer by May for you in Moscow.

I got "hung out to dry" on my last trip to visit my girls. I called Delta to get a price from Atlanta to Moscow , not sure of the exact dates, got a good price and said ok, I'll make my reservations once I can confirm dates with my fiance. I called back the next weekend and the ticket had gone from $720.00 to $1530.00.

It seems I had a one week window before they increased their fares for summer but didn't know this and they didn't volunteer to tell me either.

I feel certain if I waited a few more weeks the May price would probably increase as well. She did tell me that Delta had some good deals going right now.

It's nice to hear your wonderful comments about your wife and your going all out for her to visit her dad. Money is money, family is more powerful.

Money can be replaced, but not a family member, especially a parent. You've got to be a good man and husband.

I got a PM last night asking about my timelines...I have everything ready for the K-1...what we've been waiting on before I file are two things...permission from dad for the 8 year old to leave Russia, and permission from dad for me to adopt her. During this May trip he's promised us he'll sign all the neccesary documents .

He has had no contact with this kid since she was 2 years old. What an awsome loss for him.

Thanks guys..I'm sure I'll be calling on you again soon.

Not to throw a wet blanket on Delta, but I just had a horrible experience flying to Russia and back out of JFK with them. For starters, my one checked bag did not arrive in Moscow when I did. It got here 2 or 3 days later. Coming back, the plane leaving Moscow and JFK both were over 1 hour late departing. This caused me to run thru airports in a struggle to make connecting flights. In the future, I will not ever use JFK again. That airport is horrible. Atlanta is a much better airport IMHO...

Hi wissooner...I know your pain with JFK...I've been on a lot of international flights where I had to go through JFK. NOT again unless it would be the only alternative. I live two hours from the Atlanta airport and it's always been an easy out and back in for me as long as I don't have to go through JFK.

I don't think I've ever been through JFK that I didn't encounter a problem, especially returning off International.

The last time I went through JFK returning...there were three 767's unloaded at the same time..imagine they had one x-ray machine available and several hundred people trying to get through and make their connection flights.

I lost luggage there 5 years ago and it's never found it's way back home...my name, address and phone numbers are sewed on the inside of all my luggage..

I suppose it got sold over in Alabama at the disposal store for the airline companies.

It sounds like Delta is really hosing you. We've been planning flights in May to Kyiv, Ukraine from San Francisco on Northwest/KLM. We fly from SF to Amsterdam and then Kyiv. The round trips are from $1,283 to $1,510 with little variance so far. The biggest jump is after Memorial Day so we are trying to leave well before that.

I understand about wanting to build up miles, but that charge is ridiculous. Try Expedia or Cheap Tickets. Sometimes the toughest part is trying to find a consistent travel arrangement, where you don't jump from airport to airport or sit for hours waiting for that next flight.

With all the airlines complaining about people not flying much, I don't understand why they don't work closer on arranging flights that can handle many different directions utilizing the other airline inbound or outbound flights. I mean really. Does anyone believe they don't work together on fixing flight prices.

Delta Atlanta-Kiev in May roundtrip $1054.00..not bad .

I'm pleased with my $1038.00 from Atlanta to Moscow roundtrip non stops.

I hate plane changes and would pay extra to be without one.

I used to always look for tickets in Expedia and the other sites and found out I could always go straight to Delta and get the same price or a better deal.

I've been through Amsterdam with KLM going to other countries..like the airline and liked the airport, will use them again and always bought my tickets direct from KLM in Atlanta at the airport.

I think if I was flying to Kiev I would fly KLM..Atlanta - Amsterdam- Kiev..NO JFK!

I must be one of the unlucky ones, I can't ever seem to get a deal from the ticket sites without going though several airports and different airlines.

I recently read on another forum where a guy got to Moscow on $550.00...took him 1.5 days to get there.

I've had to get from point A to point B and back so many times that the thrill of the travel went out the door years ago.

I think your price to Kiev is decent from where you're flying from.

Here's a site I enjoy reading...some of you may already know about it.

http://www.sleepinginairports.com

I can relate to a lot of the experiences people in there write about...SVO2 got the Poop Award for worst airport, I think in 2005.
