Hi

My son is going to be 16 in a few months time and he wants to look for a job at that time. We have had our AOS interview and i am stuck in FBI namechecks....they cannot approve my son until i am approved although his namecheck is back. Social security have said that he cannot have a SSN until he gets his greencard...which could take a very long time. (which means that he will not be able to get a job) Has anybody else had any experience of this?

04-09-10 Biometrics appointment

06-14-10 Interview Date

06-22-10 Received letter for Oath

07-02-10 Oath ceremony

You can apply for EAD for your son, and using the EAD he can get an SSN.

Either EAD or Green card can be used for getting SSN.
