to get married there yes but i plan a lot of stuff before i went and made sure i had everything that is the key to plan before you go

but do not misunderstand me that is just to get married the visa process to bring her here will take a lot longer you need to make appointment with embassy online to get your affidivate to marry they only take appointment online and if you wait till you are there all the days might be book

Do not confuse the marriage process and the visa process it is 2 different things and two different processes

If i may ask how much money do you plan on bringing there and where do plan on staying in hotels or at your fiancé house you will also have to figure in cost of airline tickets and spending money for you and her

thanks, much appreciated......... maybe 2k usd........ 3k usd........... i won't be staying at hotels

thanks sir

I got married in the Philippines in September. The length time you will need will vary from 2 to 4 weeks depending on what you two will want. I landed on August 30th and departed on September 28th. I went to the embassy as J&ana suggested and it was $50. for the certificate You will need a appointment for this so plan ahead. It took a hour or two as I recall even thou I had a appointment. The appointment can be made at the American Embassy in Manila via their website. As far as the Cenomar, my wife paid very little at her local government building for this.

We flew from Manila to her nearest airport and drove to her province in Isabela. We went the same day to the city hall building and applied for the marriage license. Then there is a ten day waiting period per Philippines law. They also wanted us to take a one day class which we got out later. We then had to meet the priest a couple of days later. Then we had to do a Pre-Cana all day class. The bad part was much of it was in Illicano. :)

After the ten days past we picked up the paperwork and gave it to the church. September 26th we got married. We had a big reception and later went to Bohol for a 5 day honeymoon before I had to depart.

The wedding expenses were about 60,000 pesos roughly. They estimated there was over 400 there. I'm not sure about that, but there were a lot of people.

Both J&ana and I both received RFE's for not having a NSO marriage certificate. I had read on the form that the local marriage certificate was acceptable. Apparently that changed at least at Nebraska. I did not have this certificate so my wife had to scramble. What you need to do is right after getting married ask them to do a advanced endorsement and you can get your certificate after around 2-4 weeks. A advanced endorsement is when they write a letter asking for it to be expedited. They then are supposed to send it directly to the NSO. Make sure they follow through with it as they didn't send ours and it just sat. My wife went and personally sent it overnight to her local NSO office. She then had it about a week and a half later.

that will be plenty to get married there just plan ahead before you go and have everything ready make a budget before you leave so you can have a good ideal of how long you can stay and make an appointment online with the embassy that is very important if you do not and you can not get the affivadite you are screw. the other stuff you need you could probably have it rush to you if you need too. be careful with your money most people there are nice but like any where there are bad people just waiting to snatch your money also watch out for government officals they will try to do favors and charge you more even if you do not ask

This will be my fourth trip to the Philippines next month. I did research on this topic and I found out the Schwab High Yield Investor Checking Account reimburses ATM fees. This included the 200 pesos they charge you at the ATM. I did the math and the rate they gave me was reasonable.

After I got married I gave it to my wife and this is how she gets money when needed. The account is completely free on my side.

I also use my Capitol One card as they don't charge fees internationally.

Isabela has a good ideal as for myself i had some cash but i mainly use credit cards I had a capital one, chase united card ( i actually use my airlines miles to get free flight and some free nights at hotel there) i also had bank of America credit card and of course my bank debit card. Capital one and chase has no foreign transaction fees bank of America i think does but i bought it for emergency. I bought two wallets with me and kept my debit card and one credit card with me my other two i kept in a wallet that i hid there. I learn my lesson in Thailand i had a vey bad experience there when i visit my wallet was pick pocket and i was stuck there with no money and no credit cards i had to call some one i knew there and his family loan me enough to get home of course i pay them back when i got home but it is not a good feeling to be stranded in a country and i will not wish that on anyone. I am not trying to scare you just be careful and plan ahead and you can have a goodtime and a nice simple wedding if that is what you want

Agreed, We kept very little money on us and only took out enough for what was needed. We had a group of girls steal wallet from purse without us even knowing. Always keep purse zipper facing forward and closed. Very hard mind set and people see foreigner, they see dollar signs.

Also agree about the marriage license, though the ten days as explained to us was ten business days. Be aware of holidays since government shuts down and that day doesn't count. And be sure everything on marriage license is filled out correctly. Since one item being called US citizen for ours was incorrect, should have been American citizen.

We spent allot of time on Skype planning wedding, and also while there before the wedding doing the planning. As the others said, plan every thing ahead of time, and if it says optional, it means required. Never can go wrong with too much documentation. Can only go wrong with too little documentation.
