RFE after AOS interview, need new medical

Hi everyone, happy new year!

I had a medical done in Sydney Australia on January 3rd 2014 as part of my K1 visa. It included a blood test (which I believe was testing for syphillis), a chest xray testing for tuberculosis, a DS-2035 form which he filled out according to my vaccination records, and a general medical checkup.

Of course, USCIS has seemingly lost my medical because they sent me an RFE saying I need to submit my medical, after I had my AOS interview in NYC. It is now over a year in which my overseas medical should have been valid this whole time so it was very annoying.

This is what the letter states: "Submit a completed medical examination, Form-I693, and Supplement A (vaccinations) from an approved USCIS Civil Surgeon. The exam must be in a sealed envelope and have the medical office stamp or doctor's signature across the sealed portion of the envelope."

I guess I have to make an appointment with a Civil Surgeon now. Its all a little confusing, with some people posting about just needed the vaccinations transcribed. When I call the office, do I ask to make an appointment for a complete medical examination with vaccination transcribing from DS-2035? Is this transcribing an additional cost to the medical or should it be inclusive? Just want to have an idea if the doctor's office is trying to scam me or rip me off. I see people posting that they best prices they've found was $120 but I am not sure if they mean this was for the transcribing alone or for the whole medical.

Also, what should the medical entail? Is there a blood test for syphillis and xray for TB again? I read somewhere there's a TB skin test, or something like that...is this an extra cost or should it be included?

I live in the mid-Hudson region of NY but am willing to drive a couple hours from Beacon 12508 for a doctor that wont rip me off. Does anyone have any findings on this from prior research?

My DS-2035 us attached, do I need any more vaccinations according to US immigration purposes?

Any thoughts gladly appreciated!

If you had your interview, and the IO stated your medical is lost or expired and asked you to get a new one, then you need to see a civil surgeon and get the new medical done. Call around to find the cheapest price you can. Some charge a lot more than they should.

Here is info about the exam > http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/medical-examination-faqs.html#4

Hi

Just look up the registered doc on the immigration website and call them to find out about their prices before making an appointment. I had mine done in NYC with the one recommended on this board but I paid $250. Those doctors know when you mentioned medical exam for immigration because that's the only thing they do and insurance won't covered so its out of your pocket. If you got your blood test record, bring it so they won't charge extra for what you don't need.

Cheers:)

You will have to see a civil curgeon for the I-693. The DS3025, that you attached, shows "Incomplete Vaccinations", meaning that all vaccinations were NOT complete at time of medical exam. The DS3025 and medical exam is only good for 1 year. The DS3025 has now expired.

Civil surgeon costs can range anywhere from $120-$500, all of them are different. Another exam will be required. Make sure to bring all vaccination records with you to the appt. including your DS3025.

Their DS-3025 actually does show they had all the required vaccinations. It is routine to see them marked as incomplete and eligible for a blanket waiver. This is because many of them are not age appropriate or it is not flu season at the time. That is what the blanket waiver is about. See this post by Nich-Nick > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232

The DS-3025 is not expired either. They can still take their DS-3025 to the civil surgeon to have all the vaccinations they already received transcribed onto the I-693.

The new policy of the medical expiring after a year, even if it is because the USCIS was slow in processing your case, is not even technically supposed to apply someone adjusting from a K-1. However, it seems many adjudicators do not read their own policies thoroughly and a few have been given an RFE for a new medical anyway since the new policy came out in May.
