Taking your child to the AOS interview

Hi everyone,

My adjustment of status interview following on from my K1 is in a couple of weeks in Tucson, AZ. What’s the policy on taking kids?

We have a six year old (my wife’s son, my stepson) and we don’t really have anywhere for him to stay since the interview is in the middle of the week. Will it be a problem for him to come with us? Do we have to let them know in advance?

I’d imagine this is something that happens often, but the notification letter doesn’t mention it (unless I missed it).

I would suggest that you may want to check with the USCIS office about it.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

You can bring the child if you have to (in my USCIS office, they even gave out a patriotic coloring page and crayons), but I'd recommend finding a sitter if at all possible, because you may be in a stuffy waitingroom for several hours, and having to look after the child will be stressful for them and you.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
