I don't quite understand your question, but here is what I think you are asking. Does K2 file independent of the K1, or maybe you are asking is it an option.

Anyway, if the K2 files concurrently, same form etc, as the K1, it is one fee for both just 2 biometrics fees. I think you may pay the filing twice if the K2 goes independently and there may be a problem with providing proof of bona fide marriage, the K2 status is dependent on the K1, they travel together, so if the K1 is approved, the K2 is also. And the burden of proof of marriage/blending of finances falls on the K1 application. That would change if the K1 had died, but i don't think it would change if there was a divorce. I can't think of a circumstance where the K2 would want to file alone, maybe someone else can.

I filed K1/K2 and have had no problems so far.
