Nothing really - its date receipt notice has been sent out but its absolutely meaningless.

3 months is not that uncommon, I was 3 and a half with oath on Dec 29th.

The priority date means they are processing applications received before the posted date. You can check many priority dates on the USCIS site and for example lets say you are checking the priority dates for I-90. And the posted date is July 1, 2014. That means they are processing applications received before July 1, 2014.

what does priority date mean?

Priority date is the day your application entered the process. NOA date is the date they sent you the notice that your application was received. They can be the same day or slightly different for N400 applications. For other applications they can be very different.

Three months is fast, but not shocking, especially if the person in question did not apply 90 days early. If you apply after your 5th year as a permanent resident (or 3rd if you are applying based on marriage), then you are technically already eligible to be interviewed and to have your oath administered. The biggest factor in how long the process takes, assuming that your application is straightforward, is where your local office is. Some big cities are overwhelmed with applications and some small towns are understaffed. Quite often, the longest wait in a big city is for an interview and the longest wait in a small town is for the oath of citizenship (although this is not always the case).

Not really. USCIS site shows May 25 for N-400 Cincinnati local office - I applied in September and already finished the process so that check isn't very reliable.

I do agree with you that it isn't very accurate. However it is updated sometimes once a month or twice a month. I have applied for I-90 due to an name error. They received my application on May 29 and the site is saying that they are processing applications received by July 1. I called them many times and even made an inquiry last month. Whenever I called, the agent told me the posted dates from that site. I will call them Monday again because they didn't respond to the inquiry.
