B1 visa - Question for OSW

Hi there - I'll be getting married in the US this summer.

My family lives in Hong Kong and we have had our domestic helper a part of our family for over 10 years. I grew up with her and consider her a family as well. I'd like her to be there at my wedding. Now I understand that she can apply for a tourist visa, BUT my mother has some health issues and technically our helper would be taking care of her as well. So technically, she would be "working".

Has anyone had experience with this? What visa did you guys end up using? The b1/b2 visa? I noticed that there is a B1 visa for domestic. I should note that she will be traveling with my parents, who are NOT US citizens.

feb 20, 2014 - noa 2 approved

march 5, 2014 - case number assigned at NVC

march 14, 2014 - case received by local embassy

april 4, 2014 - interview

may 1, 2014 - visa in hand

june 13, 2014 - POE: Boston

Aug 1, 2014 - AOS/EAD/AP package delivered to Chicago Lockbox

Aug 6, 2014 - NOA1

Aug 19, 2014 - Biometrics appointment for AOS & EAD

Sept 29, 2014 - EAD/AP combo card received in mail.

Mid-Nov - Potential Waiver of Interview letter received

End of May 2015 - renewed my EAD/AP, got the NOA1 and another letter stating that I don't need to do biometrics appt.

June 11, 2015 - welcome to America letter! (no interview...no service request..)

June 16, 2015 - green card in hand

Interestingly for whatever reason this is not a common question. VJ really should have a guide and sub forum for Servant issues.

The only applicable visa is a B.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Oh sorry I posted this in the Phillippines forum because it was a specific issue related to the Filipino B1/B2 visa - was hoping that some OSW in Philippines might have some experience with this.

Is your Domestic a Filipino? Also, the B1/B2 visa is issued by the US Gov't, not sure why you're calling it a "Filipino B1/B2 visa"

Dec 24, 2014 - NOA2: I called USCIS @ USEM on Jan 5, 2015 and was told the I-130 was approved on Christmas Eve. Thank you Santa!

Jan 13, 2015 - MNL Case Number & Packet 3 Received via email (I emailed the IV Unit-Manila requesting these on Jan 5, 2015 and Jan 12, 2015)

Jan 21, 2015 - NOA2: Mailed (via PhilPost!) paper/hard copy delivered to our place here in Manila.

Jan 22, 2015 - Packet 3: Mailed (again via PhilPost!) paper/hard copy delivered to out place here in Manila.

Feb 24 & 25, 2015 - Day 1 & Day 2 of Medical @ SLEC. Immunizations given on Day 2, thankfully

Mar 5, 2015 - USEM Interview Appointment - IR-1 Visa Approved! (CEAC Status updated to ISSUED afternoon of interview day)

Mar 10, 2015 - 3pm - Received SMS saying IV Package ready for pickup at 2GO MoA. Picked up at 5pm. (Shipped/Picked Up/In Hand on 3rd Business Day post interview)

Mar 13, 2015 - CFO Manila - Done
