We are USC petitioning our parents. My friend became a USC 3mos ago and she's now thinking of getting her mom to live here as permanent resident. Aside from 1. Certificate of naturalization 2. Birth certificate 3.marriage certificate (she got married to a USC, proof of her name change) what else does she need to include in the petition?

I will be doing the same thing in the next couple of months, your help and suggestions are always a great help. Thanks in advance!

Thanks apple21! It doesn't say that we need to provide our tax incomes/finance docs to show that we can support them. Can I include that already upon submission of our I-130 petition?

Oh my! We thought it was just 5mos! So I guess the 5mos timeline is just for I-130 submission and approval, right?

Is there any reference that I can read (and what to prepare) after our I-130 is approved?

You are right. The 5 month estimate is just for the i130 approval. The next stage which is at NVC will take another 5 months or more depending on how fast you submit the requirements and if you will get a checklist. There is also the unfortunate event of having to undergo sputum during the medical if SLEC finds anything suspicious on the chest xray.

There are a lot of factors that can cause delay so better to keep an open mind. Don't make future plans until you have the visa on-hand.

You can refer to this guide as well: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

The process is basically the same for parents.

Good luck.

Wow! Thanks! You are right no plans until visa is on hand. Now I'm thinking of getting a lawyer, the nvc looks pretty complicated. But I'll try to read it again. We'll take it one step at a time.
