Went to get the Dubai UAE Police Clearance Certificate today 03-Jan-2015 and here is the experience:

  • We went to the Dubai Port Police Station on Jumeirah Road in Jumeira 1 - as I understand it from the Police website you can go to any Criminal Investigation Department Station to apply for this, I used the Dubai Police Website, went to Contact Us, clicked on the 'General Department of Criminal Investigations" line and then 'Location of Dubai Police and Police Stations' and then selected the 'General Department of Criminal Investigations' from the drop down at the top of the map. (this is much easier than I just made it sound). Then I selected the one I felt easiest to get to. Many posts that came up when I Googled this have said that you have to go to the Head Quarters across from Al Mulla Mall, that does not seem to be correct.
  • Bring:
    • Original Passport and a copy
    • Your Valid UAE ID - they can pull prints with the UAE ID so you don't need to be finger printed
    • Residency Visa and a copy - not sure this is necessary but it is stated as a requirement that you have "A minimum of 6 months completion on residency visa" and they kept the copy.
    • 2 recent photographs size 4 x 6 cm
    • We also brought as copy of the appointment letter as I saw it as a requirement on a couple of websites but I don't think it is needed and they did not keep it.
    • AED210 fee - they accept Credit Cards and seemed to prefer that to cash.
  • The officer at the Information Desk was very friendly and filled the application form on his computer in English and Arabic from the information we gave him and from the UAE ID which he placed in a reader.
  • Once paid and application is signed they said the Police Clearance Certificate would be ready in 3-4 days and we could pick it up at our convenience as they are open 24/7.

We went about 9AM on a Saturday morning and the whole process took about 15 minutes. Again they were very friendly, the officer helping us was very friendly and even teasing us at times, other officers and a Captain that came up while we were there were also friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience. Please note the date of this post as fees and rules can change.

hi, I am in Abu Dhabi, I got my Police clearance for NVC stage last October and Ill have my interview end of this month. Im wondering if I still need to get a New police clearance as the appointment letter says, the clearance in current residency is valid for 1 year but the UAE police clearance is mentioning its valid only for 3 months.

btw, clearance fee in Abu Dhabi is only 100dirhams, but if you want the one with translation it will be 150 dirhams, so Dubai is a bit more

In the letter it probably says something like "A new police certificate from your current country of residence, if you obtained the police certificate more than one year ago". When did you actually got your police clearance certificate? If it has been more than a year, you will most likely need new clearance certificate. If the sentence I posted is different(A new police.....) on your letter...please post. the exact sentence.

? He or she obtained a police certificate more than one year ago; and

? He or she still lives in the country that issued the police certificate

I got my police clearance OCt 8, 2014. as per the clearance validiy which is 3 months, it is already expired on JAn 8 2015. My interview will be on the 29th.
