Just wondering what you expect to achieve?

Nothing on TV tonight?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

By passing the Executive Action on immigration that the President recently signed, the President has placed those law-abiding people under those who have broken the law.

The administration should prioritize those who abide to the law and improve the legal immigration system by lessening waiting times.

I'm sorry, but personally I could not agree with this. We have absolutely no idea how the DAPA/DACA extension will affect immigration times.

Last round of Daca might give a clue?

No use complaining after it has happened either. Too late by then.

A petition - any petition - to expedite the immigration process is valid, IMHO. However this is very poorly worded, vague and incomplete, in its breadth. It looks and sounds wanting of proper research.

It states the immigration system is broken, which is something almost everyone agrees, but it fails to offer evidence or remediation. It mentions an 'executive order' but it falls short in specifying what such order is. As pointed out, citing DACA alone won't do much good if you ignore all other legal measures available to those willing to take a short cut or work the system. Be thorough.

If you want a valid petition - with gravitas - consider redacting the document, include details and evidence as to how these affect the waiting times and you'll have a more palatable document in the end.

Good luck.

Here's for the people who have a family member that's been waiting many years or even decades to migrate to the U.S.

The delays aren't a matter of bureacratic bumbling, backlog, or executive discretion. They exist because of the annual numerical limits Congress placed on each immigrant visa category, in addition to the per country limits in the law. The President can't circumvent these limits with executive action.

You should also understand the President's executive action didn't change the priority for anyone. He's not granting legal status to anyone. He's allowing them to apply for deferred action, which is nothing more than a promise that DHS won't try to deport them solely for being unlawfully present. That promise is for a limited amount of time. This doesn't change their immigration status - the President doesn't have the authority to do that. It only offers temporary protection from deportation.

There are only two ways to significantly reduce the waiting time for family based legal immigrants. First, Congress could increase the numerical limits in each of the immigrant visa categories, which would make the line move faster. Second, fewer people could apply for immigrant visas, which would make the line shorter. There isn't anything the President could do (within the framework of the law) without Congress changing the law.

If I'm not mistaken it also allows them to apply for a work permit. Their protected status is 3 years and can be renewed I believe.

And travel, work, drive.

Basically everything you need.

And that is all these kids are getting, really, not that it's the only reason for the existing backlog.
