Hi guys

My wife paid the AOS fee but has not submitted the I-864 form yet as she is waiting for 2014 IRS tax transcript. I somehow thought that the IV application processing fee would become available for payment but it has not. The instructions said to submit he AOS form + IV application together.

When is the IV Application Processing Fee going to become available?

Do we have to submit the i-864 form ( with attached required documents such as proof of income, tax transcripts) first, before the IV fee becomes available ? Or can we send the AOS i-864 + IV DS-261? but I can not get to the DS-261 unless the fee is paid. Am I missing something?

Affidavit of Support (AOS) Fees
Petitioner
Fee Amount
Payment Status
Select
SPONSOR PERSON NAME
$120.00
PAID
IV Application Processing Fees
Applicant Name
Birth Year
Relation
Fee Amount
Payment Status
Select
Total Amount Selected: $0.00

As I understand it, the IV FEE can sometimes take anywhere from 4 days to several weeks to become available.

Let me clarify a couple things for you, for the sake of terminology:

1. The IV application is form:DS261. This is completed online by "the agent".

The supporting documents that are sent to the NVC:

1. I-864 form

2. I-864 supporting documents

3. Immigrant application supporting documents ( courts, marriage, divorce, police certificates, birth certificate, etc etc)

To answer your questions:

*** Once the AOS fee shows paid, you may print out the BarCode cover sheet.

*** The i-864 form, i864 supporting documents, AND all the immigration application supporting documents SHOULD BE SENT TOGETHER IN SAME PACKET, failure to do so may result in delay of your application. This entire package can be sent to the NVC as soon as you have a barcode to send it.

*** The BacCode coversheet must be attached to the front of this package sent to the NVC. I initially had difficult trying to print the cover sheet because I did not notice that google chrome was blocking pop-ups. Instead, i used Internet Explorer and then went to the "receipts" section. The click "print receipt"............ Then AT THE BOTTOM of the receipt page is a link called "PRINT DOCUMENT COVER SHEET"..... Once you click that link a new pop up will open up and then asking you to download the "pdf" document.

*** Opening the PDF document in windows, or alternatively you can log onto www.pdfescape.com......... and view and print from there.

Guys, it has already been 13 days since the NVC received our case. But still no case number. Most people on here have been getting case numbers in 10 days or something. Is there something wrong? Why are we not getting a case number? And is there anyone on here whose NVC receive date is 22nd July or later and has received a case number? I'm starting to freak out now.

According to the NVC, it takes approximately 30 days to assign a case number, AFTER they have received.

You are correct, that the majority of cases are about 2 weeks. You can see from my signature below that it in fact took 1 month from NOA2 "or" 14 days from arrival at nvc.

Good luck to you.

Congratulations Kaka26, I found a link somewhere in visajourney which walks you through all the steps. Take a look at the following:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut#4._Getting_your_NVC_number

I can provide you summary based on my understanding because I just went through all this like a month and half ago.

NVC will take about 15 to 20 days to receive your case and record it in their system. They will than assign NVC case number and Invoice ID number. Afterwards they will send you a letter.

The total amount of time it took for me to actuall receive the letter after USCIS had sent the case to NVC was 1 month and 14 days.

What I could recommend is, call NVC after 20 days and try to get your case number and invoice ID number. Because for some reason, NVC takes long time to actually mail out the letter with instructions.

After you receive the NVC case number and invoice ID number, you should proceed to www.ceac.gov website and complete DS-261 form, Pay AOS fees and submit Affidavit of support documents.

This is where my case is at right now and I am working on the documents.

Thanks

Thank you so much.

Kaka26,

I would suggest you call the NVC at least once a week and increase the frequency as time goes by. In my case I ended up calling three times in two days because they were giving me wrong/different information every time I called. Turned out that my case number was assigned a week before but they were not giving me the information for some unknown reason. A week of delay in this long and hard process hurts, so be proactive and DO NOT WAIT FOR THE NVC TO CONTACT YOU.

Good luck!

The reason I asked is because i read in the instruction that The Principal Applicant must pay the IV fees. However when I log on line you can select either Petitioner or Principal applicant but regardless you come to the same screen with the Principal Applicant's name and date of birth and select pay fee. It's asking for a bank Account number so since my wife is in the US, I'll have her log in and pay it. Easier transaction, no need to mess with foreign accounts.

Needs to be from a U.S. bank account anyway I believe

When submitting the IV packet to NVC, do we need to include Receipts of AOS and IV payment ? Can the AOS + IV packet to NVC be submitted on line OR via e-mail with the attached Bar Code Cover Sheet, instead of mailing it it ?

You can submit the fees online, but you need to have a U.S. bank account to do it. From what I understand you can include receipts, however it's not required.

I'm the petitioner.

Do not need to include receipt. The on-line processing is only available for specific countries. I know China is one of these countries, I do not know the other 1 or 2. If you are not one of the qualifying countries then you must submit per the mail.
