I know it always varies, but what was everyone's wait time on hold when calling the NVC? I'm just going to have to call internationally, and while it isn't too expensive for me to make international calls...I'm thinking I may need a phone card.

That, and I have a noisey toddler, so I'm going to try and call during nap time. Currently been on hold for 5 minutes with the cheesy music. However don't think I can wait much longer this time around. I think I read a PP saying they were on hold for 40 min? Is that before any kind of operator picks up?

EDIT: I made it through at the 10 minute mark. Was told my package was received July 20th, so now I need to wait for it to be entered into the system. is this what it means when it on the forum we say that it's been scanned?

Rep told me to wait up to 4 weeks, but that isn't really the case right?

Yikes!!!!

Please download Skype, and use a credit card to add minutes.

Calling in the United states is like .003 per minute. I purhased $20 worth of skype minutes last year, and I still have $15 left! As many others have suggested, call 3 minutes before 6am Eastern United States time. Or call right before they close at night.

I have also found , through experience, that calling mid-day ( but before the general population gets off work at 5pm). The 2 times I called mid-day they answered the phone so fast that I was unprepared and didnt have my email receipt # up , lol

First you have to call uscis you cannot call the nvc directly. Also, this is a thread for January filers, and you filed in March. Check Igors list. Have they started approving petitions from your month. I suspect if the nsc kept up with the pace they had, you will get your approval in the next couple weeks.

Then as per uscis their processing has slowed down. I know it is horrible and agonizing. They have a different answer because now they are taking more than 5 months to process a petition. Like I said keep an eye on igors list. Also, try to search for the forum for March filers, we all filed in January here so that could be dishartening to read.

Hey! Does anyone know how long it takes to get a case number at the NVC? They received my case on 22nd July and still no case number! :(

Also I am so mad at the NVC people! I called today and the operator told me they have our case in the system and transferred me to a case specialist where I had to go through a 20 minute wait. After waiting for more than 15 minutes, the call got disconnected for some reason. So I called back and guess what! This operator tells me they don't have a case number yet. And that it'll take them 4 freaking weeks to enter the case into their system! This was so uncool! Giving us something we are desperately waiting for and then taking it away!! Ugh!!

I also called this morning, it was the same 20 minute wait, then transfer to case specialist which was another 20 minute wait.

They received our case on 7/17, and assigned case number 7/31... They were able to give me both case number and invoice this morning.

hope that helps.

Guys, it has already been 13 days since the NVC received our case. But still no case number. Most people on here have been getting case numbers in 10 days or something. Is there something wrong? Why are we not getting a case number? And is there anyone on here whose NVC receive date is 22nd July or later and has received a case number? I'm starting to freak out now.
