I know it always varies, but what was everyone's wait time on hold when calling the NVC? I'm just going to have to call internationally, and while it isn't too expensive for me to make international calls...I'm thinking I may need a phone card.

That, and I have a noisey toddler, so I'm going to try and call during nap time. Currently been on hold for 5 minutes with the cheesy music. However don't think I can wait much longer this time around. I think I read a PP saying they were on hold for 40 min? Is that before any kind of operator picks up?

EDIT: I made it through at the 10 minute mark. Was told my package was received July 20th, so now I need to wait for it to be entered into the system. is this what it means when it on the forum we say that it's been scanned?

Rep told me to wait up to 4 weeks, but that isn't really the case right?

If you have a smartphone, download the Google Hangouts app, and you can call NVC for free over wifi.

I've always found it best to call as soon as they open

Does calling uscis and asking about your case help the process? I have not recived anything except noa1. The recived my case on jan. 20 2015.

At this point, you should be able to call USCIS and place a service request on your case.

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is having a good time at the NVC. ;)

So my husband and I have been filling the I-864 form and we have a few questions regarding the form.

1) In Part 2, Item 2.a., they are asking for the mailing address of the immigrant. Now my address doesn't fit in the space they have provided(people living in India will understand). What do I do? Just put in the smaller version of the address? Or write however much fits into it electronically and then just write the few letters that don't fit using a pen?

2) In Part 4, CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY, we have checked the box for "I am a citizen" because my husband is a citizen. Now below the box "I am a lawful permanent citizen", you need to fill out the Alien Registration Number. My question is, does my husband have to put his alien registration number in there too, (because he used to have one when he was there on a green card) even though he is a citizen now?

3) In Part 5, HOUSEHOLD SIZE. I am the only person my husband is sponsoring so he put 1 in the box #1. He put 1 in box #2 too, for himself. Now the box #3 asks "if you are married, enter 1 for your spouse." So I am wondering, do we have to put 1 in there too? Because I am anyways the principle immigrant and am included in the box #1. Right now we just put 0 in there because they say we should not be counting anyone twice. So, our household size is 2. Am I right about this?

4) In Part 6, Item 5: Current Individual Annual Income. The thing is, my husband got a raise in February or March, so his annual income this year would be more than last year. Whereas, his most recent tax transcripts will obviously show the annual income according to his previous salary. Would this create any problems?

P. S. We are going to include a letter from his employer indicating his current salary.

5) In Part 6, Item 13: They say we are supposed to check the box if my husband(the sponsor) has filed the tax returns for each of the three most recent tax years and if he has attached the photocopy of the tax transcript of only the most recent tax year. Now Item 14 says we are supposed to check the box if he has attached photocopies of the tax transcripts for second and third most recent tax year. We are attaching the photocopies of the last three tax years, so, which box do we check? Item 13? Item 14? Or Both?

6) Okay this will be the last question, just double checking. We are supposed to put in N/A or NONE in all the fields that are not applicable to us and allow actually typing those things in, right? What about the fields that do not allow N/A or NONE to be typed in? Example: Immigrant's Alien Number(I don't have one yet.) or since what date my husband(the sponsor) is unemployed(he is not unemployed). Do we just write it down using a pen when we print it out? Or do we just put N/A or NONE in all the places it allows us to and leave other things blank?

Thank you so much in advance. I am just concerned and we do not want to get any stupid checklists that will keep me and my husband further apart! Just trying to be really precise here. Thank you again.

If yOur Husband is the petitioner and You are the only sponsored immigrant fill out the i-864ez (this is the shorter version if you are the only immigrant).. Goodluck Guys!!

Monday I waited more than an hour and got nothing useful from a bored employee at the NVC. Then on Tuesday I waited almost 40 min. and got through, but this time I got a nice guy that was able to give me all the information I needed.

Both times I was transferred to visa specialists. I learned that my case number had been assigned almost a week ago but the employees I was talking to were not very helpful. my thoughts to you is to wait on the phone as long as you can (or need to) in order to get what you need to move on. Hang in there... good luck!

I was finally able to get a hold of NVC visa specialist after waiting for almost 1 hour.

She told me that a letter with instructions was mailed out on July 22nd and I should follow instructions on it once received. But I was able to get the NVC Case number and Invoice ID before she hung up the call.

As of today I have not received the letter and therefore went ahead and completed form DS-261

Attached is the screenshot of what I see after completing and signing the DS-261. I see option of "Pay Now" for Affidavit of support fees and IV fees. My questions is should I pay both of these or wait for further correspondence from NVC?

I will appreciate any help.

It will probably only allow you to pay the AOS fee. Pay that and send your AOS & IV package asap.

Then pay the IV fee as soon as it allows you to (you should get an email once it's been invoiced)

Urvashi,

1. I'd fill the whole address by hand

2. He only needs to check that he is a citizen

3. You only count each person once, so the 'if you are married' part would be 0, and yes the household size is 2

4. A letter from his employer will help, and also any pay stubs since the pay rise

5. He only needs to send the latest, but has the option to send all 3. If sending all 3 check both

6. We wrote NONE by hand in the alien reg number, and I can't quite remember what other N/A's we put...someone else might be able to help more with this

Okay.

So my husband got his employment letter from his HR and on the letter they have mentioned his annual salary, which does not include any of the bonuses he receives every year. So would the number indicated on the letter be his "Current Individual Annual Income"? Or the one mentioned in his W-2's which are obviously for 2014.

I am so worried we will get something wrong and get a checklist. :(

Please help!

Thank you so much CJKylie for all the help till now.

Current income means just that. Your 2014 W2 is last years income. Therefore, you should use the number mentioned on his current employment letter.
