Congrats on making it to the next stage!

There might be another thread that can be more helpful but I'd say to push your old doc to keep looking and redo whichever vaccines you can.

I have seen USCIS give out RFE's for adults missing childhood vaccines, like tdap, on employment-based green card petitions. It might be a little different because that's USCIS, but I think it's better to play it safe so you don't have to worry about what could happen.

For some reason I thought that the flu vaccine requirement was only during certain times of the year (probably flu season), but maybe someone else can confirm that.

Thanks Kristen. Yeh I was thinking I would rather be safe. I have my second dose of Tdap due in a couple of weeks so I will ask the doc to give me the hep A/B.

I have attached the doc that I was using which is the latest 2015. Yeh I actually got the flu shot in Feb (flu season is Nov-Feb) thought what the heck just get it I guess. adult-schedule-easy-read.pdf

not sure very difficult to say when they will approve. It depends on the service centre case loads. From what I have read on the forums is that Texas is one of the slower ones.

If you fill in your timeline it will give you an estimate based on other Visa Journey members. You can also Google USCIS processing times and check the USCIS website (for some reason I can't paste it). Right now it says they are processing I-130s for spouses of U.S. citizen's (I'm assuming that's your case) in about 6 months.

The timeline is nice to see what is happening for others, but the USCIS dates give you an idea of when you can start calling them. For example, if after 6 months passes (and the website still says that) then you can put in a request because it's outside of normal processing times. Generally if you call too early they wont help you because you haven't waited long enough.

Though we.. wife and me.. are yet to get to the medical stage, my impression is to leave it to the medical professional to determine what's needed. The US embassy maintains a list of approved physios who advise vaccination requirements, etc at the appropriate time. Employment based petitions are a whole another ballgame compared to family based petitions. Why waste money and effort on unneeded vaccines?

I can understand where you are coming from....but getting to the medical and then waiting for the physician to tell you and then interview shortly after - it seems like it will delay the process, if you vaccinations are not up to date before the medical.

I actually don't have my primary immunisation records so I went to my local doctor to determine which vaccines i need. I actually only need the TDap and MMR - which I currently already have had the first dose.

I spoke to one of the docs today about whether they were age- appropriate and they are so I am just making sure that those ones allocated to my age group - I have already got them and documented before the medical.

In canada my vaccinations are covered under the OHIP so I didnt need to pay extra.

I see your point.

Things in Canada are prolly a bit different than in india where my wife is presently. She doesn't have records from her childhood vaccinations either but we plan to go with physician’s recommendations when she goes for her embassy-mandated medical appt. Makes sense in your case if vaccinations are pre-covered under insurance and avoid delays later on.

Btw, that’s a cool screenname you came up with..

Have you, guys, heard the news of the possible Homeland Security shutdown? It's like it does not take long enough as it is.:(

how does this affect us exactly? :(

I found this thread from 2013, they were discussing the same thing here

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/455896-us-government-shutdown/

So things could get delayed, I guess? Doubt it would last long but still, annoying.

USCIS work is unlikely to be be significantly affected, even IF DHS shuts down (it likely won't) as long as any shutdown is not a prolonged one.

USCIS is primarily funded by applicant fees.

from the link above:

And most U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services operations, including the visa program, immigrant naturalization and asylum claims, would continue — except for the E-Verify system employers use to verify workers' visas, which would pause in case of a shutdown.

HI, has does anyone know how accurate the estimates of approval are at the bottom of your timelines? I'm just wondering if anyone's NOA2 receipt is close to VJ's estimate.

I'd say it depends on your USCIS center. Timeline promised me about six months but it was done in less three weeks.
