doodlebug, when you received your NOA1 in the mail, there should a "receipt number" on the top...

take that receipt number and go to www.uscis.gov

OR

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/caseStatusSearch.do

and create an account with your receipt number, then choose to get email notification on your case.

good luck!!

Not sure what you are refering to as the "ROA1". Did you really mean to say NOA1 or Notice of Action 1? If so, the NOA1 is also going to be sent to you through the mail. You would not see an e-mail for NOA1. Once you get your NOA1 with the recepit # you can sign up for automatic case status updates at the USCIS website at the following website https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

Once your I-130 has been approved, they'll send you an e-mail stating the case has been approved, but the offical NOA2 will come through the mail as well.

Good luck!

You can also get the "receipt #" off of the back of the check once it's cashed. My bank does online banking so I was able to view the image online.
