Did they specifically asked you for the 2014 tax return and w2?? Because I'm thinking some of us are getting this because we filed right before the tax season and these dudes that are processing the requests probably getting stuff mixed up and they don't realize that we couldn't have sent these things in on December

Perhaps because I filed a more comprehensive packet then you did - and made it as easy as possible for the officer to approve it.

You think being married gives you a right to the extension? The sense of entitlement here is baffling to me. You're an immigrant, you're in someone elses country, they'll get to you when they get to you. It's why they extend your GC for a year!

After waiting for nearly a year for my I-130, now I'm approaching eight months for my ROC. When normal processing time is six months, it is frustrating. I pay a lot of money in taxes and filling fees and I expect a certain level of service. If it would be private company they would be bankrupt by now with this level of "service".

Also coming from someone whose marriage hasn't even lasted two years and commenting if being married and living with my spouse does give a right to an extension? Hell yes, it does, way more than your situation. I play by the rules, I would expect my opponent playing by the same rules as well.

Hi all, no text or email AND nothing on the website. I thought the joint mortgage shows we live together "enough"- but, having now scoured more blogs and visajourney, I'm seeing they like to see the same address on the Tax Return and the Drivers Licenses too, not just lease agreements or mortgages. My letter didn't specify the tax return by year- I sent you the list they sent with the examples (the image) so nothing really specific, just things they want to see.

I maybe didn't go overboard on the application because I figured if we own a house together, car insurance, health insurance, share bank accounts and credit cards together, we are clearly stuck together! Plus the photos to show the personal side of it. But, clearly this was not enough.

For bank statements: did you guys sent every month for the 2-3 years? Or quarterly?

So, I mentioned the 5 things above I'm planning to send that are in their list of examples. The items not listed as examples that I've seen others send are the travel itineraries, photo, affidavits from friends and family, cell phone logs to show contact, cards written by others to both people, Facebook posts and copies of credit/bank cards (so not the statements only, but also the cards photocopied). Do you guys think any of these are particularly important or any are a waste of time?

I'm of course happy to send every single thing if it would help. What do people think about these additional items? Should I now get some affidavits?

If only we'd had a child together... that seems to be a good one for proof of a relationship ;P

Yes ,I'm frustrated I didn't originally. So now they'll get them for 2012-2014, 3 years worth.

Any thoughts guys on the more "optional" items?

Mail at same address

Address return labels

Last name change

Phone bills

Thanks, Sammy boy. My last name changing is evident on all the docs showing the same last name plus the drivers license. Did you have anything specific in mind for that? Maybe I can send my new social security card with the new name, but I think that's duplicative.

Israelidude, I read through your list to see what you sent and it seems like you stuck with the formal docs they asked for (not facebook screenshots, affidavits, etc). Did you send that stuff originally, or just figure it wasn't necessary since what they wanted was formal documentation? toda raba for any guidance.

Also, what is reasonable timeframe to respond? It may takes me a few days to gather and print it all out.

Yes, but an updated SSA confirmation and updated SSN card is official stuff where it shows that you are not just wriitng your name.

An old thing has been receipts of gifts or wedding rings etc.

everyone says affidavits are tertiary evdience but i believe in those alot. Although an awkward thing to ask for from friends.

Phone bills highlighting calls you make to each other.

Cresit card bills highlighting the expense made at your fav restaurant

Basically things that tie you. Remeber sometimes, it is little things that matter.

Thanks so much Sammy. I will definitely include the SSN cards and I'm emailing 2 sets of friends to write affadavits. I'm going to find other things this weekend that are what you call the small things - like anniversary cards, photos - as well as getting all the other docs like tax returns and formal docs together. If anyone else has suggestions, please let me know.

For the affidavits, I'm planning on sending 2 from 2 sets of couples.
