Question about Co-Sponsor and Police Certificate

Hi guys I have 2 questions

1. My fiancees mom has agreed to be the co-sponsor with our case and she makes around 100k, the thing is my fiancee has not landed her job yet so technically she cant show anything, is it allowed if her mom completely sponsors me? hope I made sense there.


2. When I was in highschool I was charged with mischief under $5000 for tipping over a flower pot infront of a store, they had me do a diversion program which was to pay $60 and do 15 HR community service, I completed it and they said the charges were dropped and everything. Will this show on a police certificate and if it does will it affect my situation?

Im really stressing about these two things so any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys

Hi NinjaMax,

I don't have anything to contribute to #2 only because I've not been in that situation, however I can comment about #1.

#1, You will be fine! My now wife (US Citizen) wasn't working at the time of our application so her income was $0, we used her step-father as a co-sponsor who was making only $40k and had no issues! Just make sure the USC still fills in the I-864 and states the income of $0, that's still important. I included a cover letter that briefly explained that my fiancee at the time was out of work and why we were using her step-father as a co-sponsor.

There was absolutely no issues whatsoever. I am from Australia though, you will read quite a lot of opposite information from 'high fraud countries' but luckily neither of us have that to contend with.

PS. 99.99% sure #2 isn't going to be an issue, just be open and honest, that's my recommendation.
