Hi,

I am new to the forum, so any advice is appreciated!

I live in Vermont and I visit my girlfriend in Santiago DR every 2 months. When asked what I am doing in the country - should I say I am visiting my girlfriend or I am here for pleasure?

We plan on applying for the k1 fiance visa in 6 months to a year and we are working together to collect travel receipts, phone records, and pictures etc.

Patrick

You can say that you are visit your fiancee.

Welcome to rhe forum, and welcome to DR.

I am from Santiago too.

If you need help just ask, everybody here is able to help.

Is this your first time to visit your fiance or have you came before?

I have came twice before. I live in Burlington, Vermont USA and she lives in San Francisco de macoris. I fly into Santiago. Last time I flew into Puerto Plata and we spent a week in Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarette.

Here are a few questions:

1. Her English is at 60% i'd say. It's not bad but she has trouble with difficult long words. Will this be an issue for the k1 interview?

2. If I am understanding this right, the first step in the process is for me to submit the 1-129f form with the filing fee? - which is currently $340?

3. In July of last year she had applied for a visa to go on a cruise to Spain but she was denied. From what I gather from her is that she may of filed the wrong visa - she should of filed a tourist visa, but she filed a permanent residency visa. She also said the reasons she was turned down is because she didn't have much in the DR to bring her back - she has a job, an apartment etc but no children and no husband. What is your take on this?

Thank you -
