If you file for MFJ, then yes, an ITIN is required (if one doesn't have a SSN). If you file for MFS, you can just write NRA in the SSN field.

Ok...Thanks!!! I was kinda stressing out about it...I'm either going to file MFS or HOH since i qualify for both. Whatever gives me the biggest refund...So HOH I can still use NRA right?

I'm not sure how HOH works exactly as I have zero experience with it. You may not have to even mention your spouse (but don't quote me on that :P). If you do though, yes, you should be able to put NRA, like MFS.

Congrats ..I'm still waiting for my case number..hopefully tomorrow...planning to switch my job...I know this not the right time..but dont know wht to do...Just got this new job but I dont like it..Just got my employment verification letter..i m only sponsors for my husband...

Thank you... I would wait until Monday to be sure but if you like punishing yourself (like I do), then be ready to redial 50 times and hold 30-78min (longest hold time to date).

I am planning on filing my taxes for 2014 and submitting it to NVC, What happens if they ask me for last 3 yrs of taxes? This is my first time I am filing. I started working last year before then my dad had me as a dependent. Any idea on what I should do?

3 yrs of tax returns is required only if your current income is not sufficient for your household size and previous years returns help you establish income requirements...otherwise, only the latest one year tax year return is required.

I can't e-file my tax returns this year.

Since postal mail and processing of tax returns filed via mail takes long, I may not have IRS transcript for 2014 in time for interview...Can I take copies of tax returns that I have at that time to the interview ?

Does the tax returns need to be accepted by IRS before the interview ?

Hey Saylin, have you ever heard of anyone else getting a pre interview call from the NVC before? I've never seen it mentioned by anyone on here. Like I said, the lady was very nice and discussed with my wife all the docs I needed to bring to the interview.

HELLO EVERYONE,

AOS fee changed from paid to n/a. So happy but will confirm tomorrow on phone. we had checklist email on 13th january. sent response on 14th january . scan date 15th january. just checked n/a on 30th jan(India). so 29th jan in USA..

This definitely proves NVC may not take 60 days for everyone. They have their own way of working at very random speed. :)
