Is there anything at all that happens immediately and effectively at NVC? I was able to complete my DS-261 today, and big surprise, still can't pay the AOS fee. It seems like I remember official instructions saying this should be immediate, but I'm guessing a few days' wait is normal.

Also, curiously, for the IV fee, I have a "Pay Now" button, while for the AOS fee it just says N/A. Clicking the Pay Now button only takes me back to the log in page, which I'm assuming is because it's not invoiced. But nonetheless I thought it was strange that I have the button for the second fee and not the first. Has anyone else had the same?

Our IV fee was invoiced and paid two days after paying AOS. Check in my signature. I think NVC is invoicing IV fees quicker now. I was able to pay AOS fee four days after filling DS261. You will be done with the payments early next week.

Thanks for all of your input on fee payment!

Another question- When I search the forums for something along the lines of "how much evidence to re-establish domicile" I see a lot of old forums of Canadians that have been given a really hard time in the past about this. Ridiculous demands like USC's having to give up their residency abroad and some couples that have been forced to separate and later refile. Does anyone know if these kinds of cases were isolated to the Canadian embassies? I'm sure it varies by country, but nowadays how hard is it to do this? The lack of controversey I find searching leads me to think that it's fairly simple but I would like to hear from people who have passed this step recently.

I've searched for this answer, but I'm lost and stressed. Can anyone help me with the AOS? I'm so afraid of a checklist...I haven't filed taxes for the past 3 years but don't know what to put in the income lines. I've seen where people say put 0, 0.00 or didn't file...I've also seen where people that have put those answers have got a checklist! So has anyone been approved recently (or been checklisted  ) that can shed some light! (L)

If you did not file taxes for last three years then it is better to put 0. You have to wrire an explanatin letter to describe the situation in which you were exempted for paying taxes. I assume you will have a joint sponsor to take care of the AOS. So, that will not be a problem. And check yourself as unemployed since (the year) in your I864 form.

Yes Nyala... My husband sent the AOS and IV documents on 1/22 but just after sending we noticed a big mistake. :crying: :crying: So he cancelled the shipment before reaching NVC. Now we are planning to send the packages by early next week.

I hope your IV bill shows up quickly and we both are able to send our packages by next week.

Hey again all!

I've got my interview in Montreal coming up on Feb. 3rd and have been through the paperwork I'm taking I don't know how many times. I've got my interview letter, DS260 confirmation page, copies of our marriage license and my long form birth certificate as both originals were mailed in, and a copy of the police check I sent in, as well as my passport with another copy of the biographical page and my medical report. My wife lives here in Canada with me so to show intent to re-establish domicile we have a notorized letter from her parents, signed letter by my wife promising to make USA her domicile, bank statements with our names and US address, car inurance quote with US address, and a job offer letter for my wife. I hear how the domicle issue is so important so I hope and pray this is enough. I'm also taking a few pictures and a pension estimate statement that shows I'll have a half decent income of my own if they ask to see them. Can anyone think of anything I forgot or give any suggestions?

Thanks,

ncglenn

I have mostly seen Canadians with this problem too... I have a friend who was a Spanish resident and recently went through the process to move to the USA with Spanish husband and had no problems. It seems like going through this painful ordeal (that is immigration) should be evidence enough that we want to re-estabish domicile! I guess it makes sense that Canada would be more of an issue because you could easily go back and forth...
