Congrats! No matter how many mistakes you make, it should not take that long for a visa, but let's stay "positive." Good luck with the rest of the process.

Thanks v4b! I think maybe our application got lost in the piles of the major backlog they had, but it's working out just right as we don't plan on moving permanently down to North Carolina until July and I have to give around 3 months notice at work when retiring to set up my pension etc. Good luck to you too!

Thanks Dualie! We are staying there at the Holiday Inn Express the nights of Feb. 2nd and 3rd and taking the train back to Toronto on the 4th. My wife and I are going to make it a mini honeymoon trip as we never really had one since being married back in 2002. Plus I want to her to see a little more of Canada before we retire and move down to North Carolina where she's from. Also I noticed on the Montreal Consulate instructions it says to bring original AOS and tax return/transcripts, but I don't have them as they were sent to the NVC. Is this the same for you? Good luck to you and your loved one as well and maybe we'll all meet and say hello!

Hi! I did EP so everything was scanned and sent via email, so I have to bring all my originals. If you sent them your originals, then you don't have to worry. I would just bring your photocopies (if you have them). Things are continuously changing over at NVC it seems. You should be fine, as NVC has sent them to the Consulate for your interview.

Good luck for a smooth and painless interview! :)

Received our case # today! ?

We were told it's still too soon to update our file to give our email address(s) for EP though... is this normal? The lady said to call back at the end of the week or early next week & they will be able to add them.

i was told the same thing the day i got my case number. I just wanted to add my husband email and they told me as the case was new they could not touch the information yet. Even after i completed agent information and paid AOS fee. I called Fri, tuesday and today was the day the allowed me to add. The case seems to go through a process and nothing could be done until the agents form is review and the AOS paid. It took about a week for me to add him.

What is happening? Why is it this thread is silent with CCs lately. I've been longing for the November scan dates to be finished so they can work now with December scan dates.

If you're not making enough to sponsor, then have you found a joint sponsor that does make enough to sponsor the beneficiary? You'll need all their paperwork.

And where's the proof of US domicile? If you're living abroad, you need to include this. You can find a long list of evidence ideas on my wiki.

Yes my mother will be joint sponsor and my father contributing household member, but I created a separate cover letter and list with their I-864. Should they all go together? It will all arrive in the same envelope, but if its better to have one cover letter for all the forms and documents, then I can do that too.

Since I already don't qualify as sponsor, do I still need to prove domicile? I mean we have proof of domicile for the joint sponsor, but I thought it was unnecessary for me as I am already out of the running as it were.

Yes, chris_trina. Around Christmas they were moving at a good pace but keep in mind there are thousands of other visa waiters outside of VJ so maybe there are a lot of cc happening but not among VJ members.

Orrrr maybe they just are slow. They have had 3 or 4 holidays since November so maybe it is taking a while for things to pick back up?

Whatever the situation is, it is painful, frustrating and depressing!?

Saylin is right you will have to prove domicile in your situation... her form letter and list of evidence is great. I have heard that some consulates are pretty crazy about domicile however RDJ doesn't seem to care...

do you still have US driver's license, voters reg. maybe a bank account? I was able to renew both via internet easily. I didn't have to prove domicile because I changed my add to my US add when we got to NVC. I always maintained a PO box there and have been back and forth in preparation for our move.

I would put everything on the same cover letter as it pertains to the same AOS

Good luck!

So I received a 2nd checklist for us to provide a new I864a on the petitioner (Myself) not just the household sponsor. Even though I was a student last year and had barely any income. I guess I should use my new w2 and file for new taxes this year even though they did not ask for it in the first checklist. My AOS check scan date was Nov 26.

:( I hope others have better luck than we are. i don't see this process finishing until late summer

I am so sorry!!!

Have you tried calling and asking to bring the checklist to the interview? Some countires allow it. Go over everything and double check to make sure nothing else. I had heard that NVC is only is to get three trys and anything beyond 3 checklist they are not allowed and the embassy will review.

I hope you don't have to wait for the taxes again. If you fix it and send it in right away that is before the tax filing deadline.
