Yes, chris_trina. Around Christmas they were moving at a good pace but keep in mind there are thousands of other visa waiters outside of VJ so maybe there are a lot of cc happening but not among VJ members.

Orrrr maybe they just are slow. They have had 3 or 4 holidays since November so maybe it is taking a while for things to pick back up?

Whatever the situation is, it is painful, frustrating and depressing!?

Hello Saylin,

I have a question regarding the current individual annual income in the I864 form. Can I put annual approximate amount in it? It has nothing to do with the IRs transcripts, right?

Thanks in advance. :)

Yes, exactly, the question on current annual individual income has nothing to do with tax information (unless you're self-employed). It's based on how much you're making right NOW. If you're on salary, put that amount. If you're paid by the hour, calculate your annual income (wage x hours worked per week x 52 weeks [or however many weeks worked per year]). This won't be an exact number since it's not based on tax information, but rather an estimate, based on the letter of employment and pay stubs.

ok so I made way over to H and R block to file my taxes.. and I told her I can file three ways , MFS , MFJ or head of house hold.. she goes somewhere comes back and says no you can only file MFS .. so she goes about doing it and gets stuck on his social so she bypasses it and cant finish because it wont let her put in NRA for some reason , then she says I need another paper and wait two or three weeks and come back .. and at the end it shows I owe them money! really? but anyways I go home and search and it says if he fills out a w-7 I can file MFJ .. my question is what have you filed and is one way better then the other? . but she was everywhere and said this is her first time with a husband not in the country so she kept going to someone else but they seemed as lost as her . and then she blames her not understanding because they got a new system. I called and canceled and told them to forget everything and im not coming back lol.. but if they are right I can go back im sure.. just checking .

With what she said at the end, sounds like she might have filed as MFJ. Cause when you file the W7 for MFJ, it goes to a separate department where an ITIN is generated (which can take a few weeks), then they forward that along with the tax return to the IRS.

But, filing MFS or MFJ each has their pros and cons, and may change the amount of money you get back or owe. So, I'd try out both options and see what the end amount is and go with the higher return (or the least amount of money you owe).

I go into tax filing status at the end of my wiki. You should have a read ;)

I did read the wiki that's how I knew the three and about the NRA thing for the social ;) so that's why since I did read the wiki how she was saying I can only file MFS

and no she didn't file MFJ because I found all that out after I read the wiki and searched it myself.. she was trying to say I can only file MFS <_< , which I owed money and she couldn't even finish the process because she couldn't put in NRA,

but I really wanted to know which was best.. but now Ill just do both options and see what the results are.. thanks!

Oh, well when you mentioned another paper was needed and it'd take 2-3 weeks, that sounded like the W7 to me, which is why I thought she ended up switching to MFJ from MFS.

But glad you read the wiki and did your homework! Otherwise, she might have filed as single, like so many tax preparers do since they know nothing about situations in which the spouse lives abroad :bonk:

But yeah, try out both ways and see what ya get. That's what I've done in the past.

Received our case # today! ?

We were told it's still too soon to update our file to give our email address(s) for EP though... is this normal? The lady said to call back at the end of the week or early next week & they will be able to add them.

Hello again all!

I just had my medical here in Toronto today! I went to Dr. Zatzman in Vaughan, Ontario. He was very friendly and the checkup was surpisingly quick and easy. He just asked a few questions, then listened to my heart and lungs with the stethascope, then took my height and weight, then had me read a line from an eye exam chart. After that I went downstairs and got my chest xray and blood work done. I hope my interview will be as easy as this was! I'm actually a September 2013 filer and was caught right in the middle of the major backlog they had, then we made some mistakes on some forms we had to redo so that delayed as well. Interview is finally on February 3rd! Got my train ride booked from Toronto to Montreal and 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express which is just a 4 minute walk from the Consulate!

Congrats! No matter how many mistakes you make, it should not take that long for a visa, but let's stay "positive." Good luck with the rest of the process.

Wow! You have had a long journey, but it's almost over. Good luck with your interview. My hubby and I will be staying at that Holiday Inn Express from Feb 2 to Feb 10. Maybe we will bump into you! I have to fly in on the 2nd for my medical on the 3rd, and then my interview isn't until the 10th so hubby and I are touring Montreal as our honeymoon trip (the one we haven't had yet, lol!).

Anyway, just wanted to wish you luck. I know you will do fine, you have waited long enough! :)

Thanks Dualie! We are staying there at the Holiday Inn Express the nights of Feb. 2nd and 3rd and taking the train back to Toronto on the 4th. My wife and I are going to make it a mini honeymoon trip as we never really had one since being married back in 2002. Plus I want to her to see a little more of Canada before we retire and move down to North Carolina where she's from. Also I noticed on the Montreal Consulate instructions it says to bring original AOS and tax return/transcripts, but I don't have them as they were sent to the NVC. Is this the same for you? Good luck to you and your loved one as well and maybe we'll all meet and say hello!
