P.S. Re-dialing multiple times is a pain in the @$$! Never had to deal with that 5 years ago when I went through NVC. You dialed, you got through right away. No re-dialing necessary. I would have been done with my "testing" in like 10 minutes. Instead, took like half an hour due to having to re-dial so many times each time to get through :bonk:

Dear Sylin,

I need your advice. My AOS checklist scan date was 07 Nov. I called after 60 days to ask about the status of my case. I dont know for what reason the rep forwarded my case to a supervisor for review with any initial review of this checklist. Now my case is pending a supervisor review. Whenever, i call them they says to wait for few more weeks.

DO you have any opinion or advice on this situation? Its now 75 days since my AOS checklist scan date. Please help.

Just wondering if anybody who got an AOS checklist if in the letter it said we have to wait for 60 BUSINESS days??? In mine it says business days... this just keeps on getting worse and worse.... Wasn't it 60 calender days??

Hello NVC123

i had a checklist like you on the letter it says 60 bussiness days, but they finished it on 54 days , so i would say donnot worry about , it is calander days. if u want to check call them and ask them.

God Luck and stay positive.

So, I was in the process of updating my wiki with the new menu changes and realized I still had the DOS number listed, even though they took that option away awhile ago. I thought I'd call the number to verify, and came across something that everyone will be VERY interested to know. It's an automated message basically saying they no longer take calls and all calls should be made to NVC. Then they automatically transfer you to NVC's number. And it connects RIGHT AWAY.

Folks, this means: NO MORE RE-DIALING. The DOS automated message lasts 40 seconds. This is soooo much better than having to re-dial for minutes and minutes on end when calling through NVC!

What is the DOS number please?

I paid the AOS fee on 2nd January 2015 but the IV fee is still not open to be paid. I have a job offer in the US to start on 6th April 2015. Can anyone advise what I can do whilst I wait for the IV invoice to be generated? What are the chances of me having the visa approved in time to move at the beginning of April?

It worked great, Saylin! I was only on hold for about 15 minutes.

No case number yet (NVC received Dec. 17), but for the first time I didn't get the same 42 day message! He told me that they are currently taking 5 to 6 weeks (which I realize is pretty much the same amount of time, but at least it's different, more human-like phrasing). He looked at my case, said that I'm currently in the 5th week, and said that maybe by Friday I'll have it. He didn't say anything that I didn't already know thanks to VJ, but it was nice to hear something different and more informative.

Hey guys,

We are going to send in our AOS/IV either tomorrow or the next day, but I wanted to run it by all of you knowledgeable people, before it is too late to change it.

I don't make enough to sponsor my wife, nor do I meet the requirements for domicile, so I am really only sending in the AOS and evidence because I am required to. I called the NVC and was told that even though I wont be sponsor it is better to include more rather than not enough documentation; so, I've included pretty much everything for the last 3 tax years, plus a letter from my employer about 2014.

So, here is the list portion of my AOS cover letter. Is there anything I should add? Remove?

Saylin and Kaelabelle, I'd love it if you guys could get in on this :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please find enclosed the Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, for my spouse and beneficiary, ___________________________, and supporting documents as follows:

  • AOS bar-coded cover sheet

  • Form I-864 (signed and dated)

  • Letter explaining current employment and tax situation.

  • 2011 Tax Transcript

  • 2012 IRS Letter of Non-Filing Status

  • 2012 I-1040 Instructions for Filing (selected pages)

  • 2012 IRS Publication 54 Tax Guide for US Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad (selected pages)

  • 2013 IRS Letter of Non-Filing Status

  • 2013 Letter from Brazilian Employer stating total earned in 2013 (Less $ than amount requiring that I file taxes) - Portuguese

  • 2013 Letter from Brazilian Employer stating total earned in 2013 - English

  • 2013 I-1040 Instructions for Filing (selected pages)

  • 2013 IRS Publication 54 Tax Guide for US Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad (selected pages)

  • 2014 Letter of Employment from Brazilian Employer stating total earned in 2014 - Portuguese

  • 2014 Letter of Employment from Brazilian Employer stating total earned in 2014 - English

Thanks in advance for all the help. You guys are all life savers!

If you get a good cropped picture you can put it on an SD card and take it to Walmart and have them printed. Its only 60 cents per picture. My hubby did it tonight. This is alot less hassle that getting photo paper and doing yourself.

Also would they really know the pictures are older than six months. Once it look like the person i would think that all that matters.

that's my question.. I was gonna post on here..

Anybody know how they would really know it your photo was 6 months old? or is it just your word ? just wondering. my husband already sent me updated ones so im not trying to trick them or anything but just wondering how do they really know how old your photots are?
