Hello Everyone,

We received our interview date and it is coming soon. Alhamdulilallah! :star: On one of the papers from the Consulate, it says no phones allowed inside the consulate. Since we are traveling far we want to take our cell phone with us but we do not have a place to keep the phone but we can turn it off.

Will it be allowed inside during interview if it is turned off?

Will they take it and return it later?

Will they cancel the interview if you have a phone?

When approved for the K1 Visa how long do you wait for it to be issued? A day? A week later?

Are there any reasonable priced hotels nearby with security near the consulate?

Thank you in advance,

They will not let you in with the cell phone and the american citizen will not be permitted to go in either. I had to sit across the street in a cafe and wait for 3 hours while the interview was being conducted. I held my fiances cell phone for him until he came out. This was our experience in Casablanca.

Same experience. That being said-- I'd recommend taking her passport into the interview to show she's outside waiting for you. I feel like this might help.

To the USC- I remember those 6 hours at the American cafe (forgot if it has a different name) and then Beverly Ice waiting for my husband. SUCH RELIEF when it was over! :) Good times. Kind of. Glad to be done with them.

Casablanca does not allow the petitioner in the consulate for the interview. Give your phone to your fiance to hold while you're inside.

My husbands phone was taken at the security check point before walking through the metal detector....as well as lighters, chewing gum etc....all placed in a cubby hole and returned when he left. So if you have your SO with you then give these unnecessary items to HIM/HER to wait with across the street.
