Hello

My question: can I go on a domestic cruise that leaves and comes back to U. S with out a green card or visa while i485 in process?

A bit on my situation: Im currently waiting to be scheduled for i485 interview appointment. I have a Canadian passport.

Also the thing im most worried about is that im technically banned from entering US because i over stayed my visitors before. I guess im wondering if the cruise line checks all that information when boarding for a domestic cruise or not since its not international.

Its been a while since we took a vacation and I heard people telling me that it's ok to go even with no green card.

Please amswer if you know anything. Thank you ahead of time!

You are adjusting status (AOS) from visitor visa (VWP)? Do you have an Advanced Parole (AP) document? Are you sure that it is only a domestic US cruise, or does it have international layovers? If you leave the US without either a valid AP or Green Card (GC), you will likely not be allowed back into the US. USCIS may determine that you have abandoned your AOS application. It sounds like you should likely postpone your international cruise until you have the proper documentation.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

I absolutely would not try this...they will check all passports and status as they want to be sure no one got on the ship and is gaining access to the USA the water route, including employees.

Be safe and postpone.

Google Closed Loop Cruise

You should be fine........

Not necessarily so: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1139/~/documents-needed-to-take-a-cruise

If you are not a U.S. citizen or a U.S. LPR, you will need a passport or the appropriate documentation based on the status you are seeking in the U.S.

Can you be more specific about the cruise and itinerary you're considering boarding?

Thank you everyone for your responses!

I will have to just wait until I receive my green card and then celebrate on a cruise trip. Hopefully that will be soon enough!

Waiting for my interview to be booked.

We took one a few years ago, Closed loop. My wife could not find her greencard, she was able to use her US Driver License as proof.

That is how I found out about closed loop cruises..

Not the same situation as the OP. There was a time you could enter the US on a birth certificate alone, without any picture ID. Things have changed...
